This is the problem with most parents; they do not educate their children any more. Most people just say it’s my way or the highway or they wave their magic religion wand around and say its evil. Parents need to educate their kids before they hit puberty kids learn best at very young ages. You need to talk to your children about porn about age 8, you need to tell them about the perverts, you need to tell them the bad side to porn and the good side. You need to tell them what will happen when they get older before it happens. so you can groom them about things on the news and things they see in public.
Education is key not censorship. I’m not saying you break out the popcorn and watch porn with you child, but you need to educate them about it or somebody else will. And just cause you think its wrong will only make your kid hide it from you when they get older, you need to make a sound and solid communication and trust with respect.

So you seriously don't know? The bad side of porn is ruining your life. Porn can be addictive. To some people, who are lucky, can love their spouse enough without getting into porn at all. Some other people on the other hand, watch it when their married, and it ends up hurting their spouse. That's one bad side to porn. Another is watching it so much you turn to really hardcore porn because softcore isn't enough. Pretty soon, you'll be out raping if you have enough guts.
Another problem is when parents (especially boomer parents), who of guilt choose to be friends and peers with their children instead of being parents first and foremost. I am not saying it is bad to be your kids' best friend but there is a risk relinquishing the respect that as a parent you should get and teach. Be a parent first.
Those who never respected anybody will never be able to get any respect themselves.

I think the reason this is a problem is because the computer is in the room. What 8 year old needs a computer in their room?!?! People worry about online preditors and such well...if you did a few things to monitor your kids (keep them safe) like keeping the computer out in a living area and not a bedroom then maybe they won't have much of a chance to find things like that or feel they have a greater chance of getting caught so they don't do things or talk to people they know they shouldn't be talking to. Its a parents responibility to watch out for there kids as best as they can, not neglect their safty and allow them to do whatever they want.
