(HRH Prince William)The 9th/12th Royal Lancers are based in Hohne, Northern Germany in the role of a Reconnaissance regiment under the command of 7 Armoured Brigade (The Desert Rats).

Since 1960 the regiment has deployed on operations and peace keeping tours in countries such as Cyprus, Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Kosovo and Iraq. The regiment has organised and taken part in many exercises with the most recent being in Bavaria, Southern Germany and was the first reconnaissance regiment to be both (Opposition Force) OPFOR before going on to command a Battle Group in Canada. The regiment is currently undergoing training for deployment on Op TELIC 12 but already has personnel deployed around the world in countries such as Afghanistan and the Falklands.
The regiment is made up from of 4 Squadrons. 3 are designated as Sabre Squadrons with the fourth being to support the other 3 and itself.

The Regiment operates the CVR (T) family of vehicles which is equipped with some of the latest hi-tec visual and communications systems. Equally each soldier is just at home on his feet which make us the best unit for operations where multi roleing or tasking is required.

This short film edited by Mike Crowe from Webmovies4you.com shows soldiers of the Prince of Wales's regiment, formed in 1715, at work and at play.
