staring at any point on the negative (though the centre is best, hence the dot) for more than 10 secs begins to burn it into your retina with a crt monitor (takes a lil longer otherwise normally). works with -everything- with the right time frame and a still image on your retina. stare at it for 30 secs then go to the b/w version ;P

60 secs with a still crt image does a little damage to your retina i think because my vision's not going back to normal very quickly at all. worth while experiment, just won't do it again. the pic goes into colour whenever i look at the dot though atm :D

Anywhere you look, as long as you havnt shifted your sight, is going to work.
I found it better because the hotel building has less colour then the rest of the pic.
Then I see white, black, and grey colors.
