Uranium Weapons Used in Gulf War

  • What Bull!

They don't say what kind of weapons, who used them, or why. They make unsubstantiated statements with a lot of scary pictures and expect you to swallow it. People who use these sorts of tactics don't want to inform you, they want to influence you. Apply some common sense and don't buy this BS.

  • Well, no S**t ...

(surprised expression) Wow! You mean to say that taking a radioactive substance, putting it in munitions, and then dotting an entire country's landscape with it's exploded fragments is bad? How long did people have to go to school in order to figure out that mystery?

  • BS

This is so much S**T**s not even funny. I have a little bit of knowledge about radioactive decay and you get exposed to more radiation by going to a tanning salon than you get from using depleted uranium ammunition.

    • Not really....

I’m not expert either but the little I know tells me you are wrong to some degree. There are many kinds of radiation, in a tanning a salon I would expect you are exposed to UV radiation mostly. But in radioactive decay you are exposed to beta and gamma radiation mostly, beta been high energy electrons and gamma been high energy electromagnetic waves. Although the radioactive levels might be “low” in depleted uranium there is another factor, exposure time. So the longer you are exposed to the higher the dose gets, as this is accumulative, you will then start to feel the ill effects of radiation “poisoning”. Thus the use of depleted uranium as ammunition is madness, as most probably it would be civilians that will get the “benefit” of long term exposure to it.

  • That others may live!

Eventually, the threat of war may become so great that weapons like this will no longer be needed or tollerated. Until that time comes we're stuck with it. The same thing could be said for what happened on Hiroshima or Nagasaki, and yet, several countries have the very same weapons. Don't try to act pious when we're not alone in this.
