When he lifts off u can hear a pneumatic sound, much like when u use a hydraulic jack, immediately followed by a spark/arc at his shoes. The camera then conveniently zooms out, only to show him on the ground

Either you stand on your toes. Or you have special pants/shoes that you can take one of your feet out of so the spectator wont see it. Then use that foot to climb up a box or something.
