  • Polish can make a good job:-)

    This guy is Polish (so am I), he made this film at home, as I remember. And he won an Oscar for that! (a year or two ago - for animation). Last year he made another movie, but I haven't seen it, yet.
    I think, the Cathedral ("Katedra" in Polish) was inspired by polish artist (painter) Zdzisław Beksiński. His paintings are very dark and sad, and he paints, sorry - painted (murdered last year in his apartment by his friends' son) cathedrals very often. If you guys liked this movie, try to look for some infos about those two men and their work.

    • Nice. My favorite.

      I've got another animation called "Fallen Art" (Sztuka spadania) by Baginski.
      It's over 100 MB so i can't upload it. I'll find some compression software and upload it dough.
      Fallen Art is even better. The graphic in itself is way better. If someone has seen Some trailers to WarCraft 3, graphic is the same.

      ... it speaks to the humans predisposition to follow others, rather than to lead. And that we fall victim to the same turmoil that others did before us. (i.e. war, pollution, poverty, money, etc...) And we do nothing to change it.

      I think you're trying to politicize it too much. I view it in a much purer form. This simple human is coming here to die, in the mortal definition. Instead of just ceasing to exist, he becomes a part of something spectacular. As he is walking in, you can see the other columns peacefully smiling at him. For me, it's very spiritual and uplifting.

      I think both of your ideas about this short clip are pretty cool . I also think that it is a testament to this cg artist talents and efforts that you'd both be moved to form these takes on this short gem . The artist desires to move his audience , some scare you , but your moved , some sweet talk you with the beauty they've captured in whatever is their medium , but your moved , he has validation and has succeeded in the fullfilment of his artistic self . I am really glad that this guy has you all talking , good comments , bad comments , it does'nt really matter which , this artist stirred us up pretty good with just a few minutes of our day and a massive arsenal of talent and skill . Which ever side your on , the guy deserves and has taken at least a few moments of your day :)

      Mine is simple. Church is not a building. Church are the people who go to building. People who have same salvation. That is a church. the most of people call a building - church. This is wrong. I think he wanted to say exactly this: "The people create Church"

      Mine is really shallow and simple. Catherdral is a building like every other. It couldn't me a church(there is to many of them). Actually cathedral is some sort of "church". Definition of Church is not a building but people with same salvation who come into the building. My point is: The people are the Church, not a building.
      The most of people call church - building but the truth is, the people create church.

      This animation is very moving for its short length. In addition to the amazing compositional work, the intensity throughout is magnificent. Truly impressive work on both a visual and mental standpoint.

    i thought that it was ver cool and with nice music and everything. haha someone thought that it was clip from a game or a movie(computer animation is used for more than just those). some comments really show how much people apriciate other peoples work.

      It was based loosely on a polish writers sci-fi / fantasy story . I think this artist must be the most natural and deeply gifted person that has sit down to all those mystirous cg tools it takes to make a thing like this . I love to read a little peice of the story this was based on and have it in mind at that violent ending scene , I think it describes the chosen ones last mortal thoughts before he slips into his imortal posistion :

      " I'll sit, I'll quiet my heart. I thought that it would be mainly fear,
      an animal terror, but I feel only regret now, a great, motionless, heavy
      regret, the squeezing weight of dark water. No thoughts, no instructions
      for the body, even my eyes are dry. There is only a little tightening in
      my chest. But why speak, silence is better. "
