Established in 1978, Marin Services for Women is a licensed drug and alcohol rehab treatment center for Women. MSW’s mission is to advance community health by providing a full continuum of superior quality chemical dependency recovery services for women and their families. MSW’s philosophy links recovery from addiction with personal, relational and economic empowerment.


MSW is unique because it is the only agency in Marin that provides a full continuum of gender-responsive, trauma-specific alcohol and drug recovery programs that serves women from all over the United States. We also allow women to bring their children under six years of age into residential treatment with them. Recently published research shows that women who receive treatment services in women-only recovery programs are more than twice as likely to complete treatment as those in mixed-gender programs. Marin Services for Women graduates a remarkable 70% of clients who enter our programs.


MSW’s 30 years of treating women with substance abuse issues has demonstrated that most women entering our programs have a history of personal trauma and/or active Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Because this correlation is most prevalent among women, MSW has created an innovative Trauma Services Program to help women in early chemical dependency recovery learn to cope with their trauma and PTSD issues.


MSW’s full continuum of care includes:

Residential Recovery Program — individualized length of stay and a capacity of 40 women and 10 children;
Outpatient Recovery Program — includes day-time and evening treatment;
Perinatal Recovery Program for pregnant and parenting women along with a Child Development Program for their children under age six;

Weekly Continuing Care groups;
Transitional/Independent Living — supported, affordable housing;
Trauma Recovery Services;
Female Veteran Program;


Our newest program, the Female Veteran Program: Provides female veterans, who have unique and pressing needs, the critical help they need to overcome obstacles preventing them from returning to the civilian workforce. MSW’s program integrates employment readiness with the addiction and trauma recovery treatment currently provided at MSW and prepares clients for high wage/growth professions. The types of services include: case management, comprehensive assessments, class work training, access to an onsite computer lab, vocational readiness, and employment counseling. MSW is one of the few treatment providers that include an innovative Trauma Services Program Component to help women learn to cope with their trauma and PTSD.


Marin Services for Women is located at in beautiful Greenbrae, California (Marin County) just 10 mins from the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco. It is easily accessible from highway US-101.
