why is it when people do something well, you people say that "oh, too much free time." or "oh, nothing better to do." and some like "i see, a colledge student who has no life."

what the hell.. that is so illogical. why not try saying things like, "Ronaldinho has too much free time that is why he is so good at soccer." or try like "Eminem has too much free time to practise rapping." or even "Tom Hanks has too much free time to act."

It is just plain stupid, let them do what they like to do. learn to appreciate what they have come out with rather than being jealous and saying that they have no life. If you have so much of a life like what u say other people do not have, you wouldn't even be sitting in front of your computer watching metacafe. Get a "life"!

  Comments like these are why I seriously appreciate Metacafe's userbase compared to Youtube. Here you'll find users with logic and reason and decent grammar skills. It's a wonderful escape from the rampaging txtmsgng 12 year olds on Youtube.

  you are generalizing.
  You should have seen comments that were made about a video of a black woman hitting a white woman.
  Now it's nearly fully filtered (as in all of the comments were erased) but before it was one of the saddest things I've witnessed, it was practically a page containing everything that's wrong with society, in print.
  So, some people are good and some people are bad (by my standarts, and it seems like by your standarts as well, if I haven't miss-judged) like in any society... virtual or tangible.

  "Too much free time?" An interesting comment. It takes two minutes to make this paper aeroplane. Why isn't watching TV considered something that people with "too much free time" do? You get comments like this with stuff that doesn't involve simple consumption of products and advertisement. Anything that involves creativity, experimentation, or the use of one's mind is considered a waste of time?

  well here is the thing. Everyone has made a paper airplane, at least sometime. (if you haven't then...something probably wrong). This guy has just figured out how to do it better than... at least me. Now i can show how to do this to other people which i find kind of cool. Is there something wrong with a tiny bit of interesting information? In the world that we live in now, i think that we could do with a lot more small things in our lives to get us through the day.

  The video is informative in the "how-to" part, but he fails to mention the size of the paper to be used!? At first glance, it appears to be an 8.5x11,
  but if you look closely toward the end of the "build" he shows a front view of it.... if you look at the width of the plane from that view, it is wider in the center than an 8.5x11 is! That makes me want to believe he used an 11x17 paper! My point? For those who would like to try this, that is an important detail to give up front before you "build" this plane!
  I built 2 and they both were much narrower in the center than his appeared?
  Does anyone agree?

  a DIN A4. This is the standard paper size in Europe. For all others: This is 21.0cm x 29.7cm.

  but i used A4 paper, and it fails to fly when i build it, could u tell me why? its probly ahrd, but maybe think to when u first built it and see what problems u had.

  I built it on a British Standerd A4 paper and when i try to make it fly it just doubles back and lands on the floor. :S what am i doing wrong?

  At first I encountered this same problem of the plane flopping to the ground. I noticed, though, that every time this happened, I had been sort of pushing to forward. That's the problem -- don't push it.
  
  I found the best way to get it flying is to slowly walk forward and just let go. Using this method, within a house full of obstructions, I found it to still be an astonishing plane. Glider planes, when they hit an obstruction, just fall to the floor. But the manta doesn't miss a beat when it hits the wall; it just keeps trucking, quite acrobatically, in another direction.
  
  It's awesome. Unfortunately I just lost it to a bush outside, but that's irrelevant as it's quite easy to produce.

Crumple a piece of paper and chuck it as far as you can. A good design flies further than that. Otherwise, the design is junk.

First I thought it whas just another stupid plane... But then I wanted to try this out. So I made it. It only flies good when you throw it right.. You don't have to throw it with great force. Just put the middle corner between your index and middle finger and then very slowely move your hand forward and release.. That way it will fly very good.

  1. Forgotton to fold the leading edge TWICE. This would shift the center of gravity to the rear and the manta won't fly.
  2. Bended the wings too much down. The manta should have a nice curved V-form in the middle part.
