He's a kid, not an idiot. How many of you wore helmets at that age? NO ONE! I used to race bmx when i was younger and made jumps just as big as this and landed just fine, without a helmet. Sure i wear a helmet now and so will this kid. I'm sure he learned his lesson.

he landed 3/4th of the way down the stairs.
That way the landing would have been at an angle instead of a direct hit.
He probably saw someone do this successfully. Or was planning on landing just before the end of the stairs, but made a mistake.
Either way it was not smart to do this without at least a helmet.

To the people who think this is too dangerous etc, put away your walking stick and take off the insulation batts taped around your body. Go outside and breath some fresh air.
Knee pads wouldn't do anything for this guy. Turn on your TV, watch some Xgames. The helmets that riders wear nowadays has no lower face protection. Even if this guy was wearing a typical bike helmet his teeth would have still ended up on that path. Only a full face helment would have saved this guy.
Atleast have some respect for the guy before you rip him to shreds for stupidity.

A helmet would have helped a bit but he still would have hurt himself. He totally flat landed the drop and blew his front tyre. It could have happened to any bike he was riding, even a pro bike.
