I was kidnapped by some aliens and they told me that today were having turkey but it wasnt thanksgiving and i wouldnt say it snowed but santa came up to me and shot my dog in the balls with an AK47 and then someone came up to me and cut my.... grass for no reason he charged me 5 bucks but i gave him 2 so she ran away.

Though -this- fireball wasn't during the month of August as the predominate reports are, it is a real, documented event, and rather common. It is one of the better examples I've seen in a while, perhaps the true 'camera' person should submit it to the above website for their archives?

as real as it can get....wanna see it live?....just look at the sky in august that's when most meteors enter the atmosphere......about 1 every 5 seconds.....at least that's the rate here in romainia:D

Although it made quite a sight, that meteor was probably only around the size of a fist. Small objects entering our atmosphere (even the size of a grain of sand) can produce spectacular light shows becasue of the plasma gasses they produce as they enter at roughly 30 to 50 times the speed of sound, or 20 times faster than a bullet.

although i think people shudnt take the piss out of you knowing so much and you clearly do, i dnt think that kind of analysis is needed here...it would help us more if you just simply said...yer i think its real/fake...take some tips from the 9th grade kid he made his point without a fuss n like he said...theres no need 4 big words...take care :-D

Apparently there is a bigger one than in this vid. heading earth direction and is making a touch down in 2010: "They will do anything to sell papers" i keep repeating to myself. I thank God for Jupiter, sucking most of them into its massive gravitational pull.
Interesting fact: The sun rises in the West on Venus and sets in the East. It rotates the oppostie way to earth. The beautiful Morning and Evening star- Alpha and Omega or Omega and Alpha, its all the same in the end.

I live in the Houston area and do watch for meteors on a regular basis. They are much more common that most might think. I see, on average, 4 or more per week (with the little time I do actually do watch). They are usually just a flash in the sky, but one that I will always remember came in from North to South and passed in, what appeared to be, front of a twin engine prop plane at about 11 pm. I could see the pieces breaking off as it passed thru the atmosphere and came down. a sight worth seeing.

a fake ...cos .......... the "meteor" burnt more intense and eventually burnt-up at a too low altitude ...look at how focused the light is reflected by each of the clouds as it nears them. A real meteor would have burnt most intense when in the mesosphere .... no clouds at those heights !!! DOH

in 1989 I witnessed a meteor streak accross the sky from south to north - it was moving so fast I KNEW the moment I saw it out of the corner of my eye it was not anything terrestrial. Wierd thing is, it was GREEN, and left a white/wellow streak tail. It was something I will NEVER forget. I was in Stamford, CT at the time, and found out later that many othres had seen the same thing along the NJ, CT and NY shore. It landed, as I remember, somewhere in NY.

does anyone know where that was taped at. i saw something like that in ohio back around the 2000 year or so. but not sure when it was for sure. i was just wondering if this was the same thing i saw back then.

I saw something like that once and it was an amazing sight to behold. I told some people about it and they just looked at me like I was stupid.

hi, im a 9th grade student and i just learned about speed, velocity, momentum, friction, etc.. u ppl dont have to put it in such big words.. its very simple.. depending on the size of the meteor it will hit the ground or not.. the friction of the air is what causes it to not to get to the ground.. but if the meteor is really big it will be enough to land..

It depends greatly on the angle of descent whether or not they enter the atmosphere. Too shallow an angle and they heat up and bounce off the atmosphere. If they do enter the atmosphere it then depends on the size and composition whether or not they burn up or actually make landfall.

I thoght that once they hit the atmousphere, they come straight down to the ground?
