it shoulda eaten it. this snake and furry creature made it all over the news. and trust me.. i've seen snakes eat some pretty big things. and that's no small snake either. they can diconnect their jaws to get their heads 'round things. whether it's feeder mice or a frog, a snakes gonna eat when it has to... i once saw a frog go from green to orange while beeing eaten by a snake. it was pretty neat.

I have spent time working in a vets.
One time a client brought in a python that had been torn to pieces by a mouse.
Apparently the owner had gone away and left 2 mice in the enclosure so the snake wouldn't get hungry. Stupid, but most ppl are. Turns out the snake ate the first mouse and left the second for later. The remaining mouse attacked the snake out of natural instinct (they are viscous little c**ts when they need to be) and almost killed the snake. I have no idea whether the snake killed it or just took the beating. So basically Glowcam is right.
Also for the guy who reckons the rodent is to big. Almost all rodents will be able to fit thru a hole that is the size of their heads. So whilst that rodent looks fat, imagine it squeezed down to the diameter of its head. Not so large now.

In the first sequence the snake was interested in the hamster, but someone out of the frame of view make some movement and distracted it. Snakes are dumber then you can imagine, this is completely normal. They mostly rely on smell so whoever did the video probably rubbed a rat along the side of the cage, the snake is probably used to rats, not hamsters (they are more expensive) so it would be natural for it follow that kind of smell. The hamster was probably plopped down in front of the lettuce so it left no sent trail as it did not move from that spot in the initial video.
In the second shot the snake is full, they will not eat if they are no matter how much you entice them. This is why it is safe to handle really big snakes that would normally eat you if they were hungry. The problem is that a recently fed snake will throw up whatever it ate if you handle it too soon, so you have to wait for that optimal time between it not going to throw up and it not going to be hungry if you want to handle a big snake. Sometimes they will eat too much, then throw up, but this is rare.
In case anyone is wondering Yes, a snake that size can handle a rodent that size. Even if It couldn't eat it it would still kill it and try to eat it. It would get to the hamsters rear hips and not be able to get part, keep trying for a 20minutes or so then give up, leaving behind a mess. Always funny to see a snake with just the tail and legs sticking out roving around the cage trying to push it in on various surfaces.

...I have more than a little experience with snakes. This snake is difficult for me to identify due to the poor picture quality. That said, this snake doesn't appear to be a constrictor and therefore will not eat this mouse. If I am wrong about the snake identity then here are other factors:
1. The snake is not hungry.
2. The snake is over-stressed. (goes without saying)
3. The mouse may be a bit too large for the snake to swallow. (Snakes can only consume prey roughly 4 times their own diameter.)
4. The snake is sick. (very likely in any case because you shouldn't keep a rodent in with a snake unless it's feeding time. If the snake doesn't take the mouse soon you remove the rodent from the cage, period.)
There may be other lesser factors involved here, but I can tell this snake is stressed. In my opinion this person shouldn't own a snake unless he/she learns how to really take care of one and stops shooting videos like this trying to show off. If I'm wrong...sorry. This looks irresponsible...
