I live in Montana and Ive seen a dozen grizzlies, 5 mountain lions, and Ive even seen a pack of wolves kill a cyote in the bob marshall wilderness. well i guess the only thing i havent seen is a wolvereen. they say that there is one per every 40 miles in MT, but I have yet to see one. mountain lions though are all over the place up here, they pass right through my dads yard every spring. when i was in the 6th grade i was riding my bike home from a friends and almost ran into a large mountian lion I stoped just feet from it and It just looked at me for a minute and slowly walked away. i about S**t myself

I live in MT and up here they still only give out so many tags for each area to help maintain deer population while NOT putting the mountain lion on the endangered speices list. mountain lions only need a deer a week to survive, yet will kill 5 a week for pleasure. we are very responcible on the management of our wildlife. why dont you do some research next time before u start running your mouth like your the imbread redneck

Then when they start killing people or pets, (or people start running their cars into overpopulated deer) suddenly you want something done, but not killing! Where are they supposed to go? Not to say that a bear is dumb, cause they are not, but, if the cat really wished to kill the bear it would have been quite easy. Their claws are like razors and they would attack from the top and besides biting the bear in its vulnurable neck the claws would bleed the bear and the cat would follow it until it was too weak to fight back. Cat was only protecting its young that it flashed to if you pay attention. Was simply a warning for bear to back the h*ll up.

I know what you mean, Cat's are smart and a mountain Lion could very well kill a bear, but what i ment was the bear has enough strength in it to kill a mountain lion with ease (should it hit or bite it) The bear just wasn't fight back, i don't know if what other people saying was true how the bear wanted to eat the Lions young, or if the bear just wandered into the wrong place, either way i stand by what i said "The bear could kill the lion but didn't fight, the wolf has less chance of killing a lion and still fought valiantly, it didn't want to be pushed around by a cat you see :)
