For this project, we used:
1) 1 tablespoon peanut butter
2) Toothpaste
3) Diet Soda (must be sugar free or seltzer water)
4) Plastic container
5) Baking soda
6) Lots of paper towels

What happen to the back side?
The scratch on read surface is not important. It can be recover by polishing. If comply the polish by your method the backside where data is recorded will be damaged.
