This guy is just a beginner thats why he heavily depended on the stance. He use just enough force to dealt with the other guy, which is a good thing when fighting someone that doesnt know how to fight.

this guy has studied in the art of kung fu, its not all about looking threatining, i study Muay Thai and Wushu, and i dont look threatening at all but that has nothing to do with raw power and skill

praying mantis stance...it will appear quite foreign to most people here of course, but indeed it is a renown and long-practiced kung-fu style in China. It's just that Hollywood simply hasn't exploited it yet, probably because its supposed eccentricity won't appeal to American audience. Go on youtube and search for mantis kung fu.

the kung fu guy was using rolling arms, which is a common defense technique in kung fu, to fend off attacking punches. He did them correctly, until he had his own shot. Then he punched the other guy out. Had to have some skill, but perhaps just had never been in a real fight before, and so fell back on the basics he'd been trained in. It does take skill to combat a smaller faster opponent.

Is it just me or is the mexican guy the worst fighter ever. Im only going to say this once, never fight with you hands at you waist.

MMA is the only practical way to fight...besides maybe boxing and Muay-Thai...that's the whole reason the UFC and Pride FC even exist...to see which MA is the best...and we now know you must be proficient in Jui-Jitsu or another form of grappling like Sambo...kickboxing, preferably Muay-Thai...good old-fashioned boxing helps...and the same for wrestling...these are all important if you want to compete with the best.

Who cares if he was a beginner or not? He was in a situation of which he felt he and/or his date was threatened. He went back to the"basics" in martial arts, and any good martial artist will tell you the basics are important. I agree about the stance, it is not of one my favorate stances, but should have also been a warning to the other person that this guy did know martial arts. I would almost bet that this person was trained by the USSD. This person used minimal force, and put that Gangsta wantabe in his place and I would put money on it, that this punk received way worse later on from his gang.

i'm not a martial artists although i respect them. i'm am however a boxer studied the art for 9 years and have come to the conclusion that there are more effective and less time consuming ways to bust a fools a**s than do some spin kick. in my view neither the white or mexican kid are skilled. the mexican kid has no foot work or guard and can't even throw effective punches. the white kid relies to much on his stance, and why he is smart to go defensive, his stance hampers his mobility and his punch even though effective looked more lucky than planned.

I have been studying the martial arts for almost 12 years now, for the past 9 years I have been on the world roster for Judo! I also practice and compete in Taekwondo. The guy in the red shirt got all his "skill" (LOL!!!) out of the movies! His stance is crap, his movements when trying to follow his opponenent where even worse! Also the wild flailing of his arms that were supposed to be blocks and strikes where down right pitiful.

His stance was not the most practical for a modern streetfight, but it looks by the way he was swinging his forearms and back knuckles in a inward and then down manner, he has some Chinese style type training. It served a purpose: he won the fight and kept the other guy's friends from getting involved.

does anyone konw what martial art (or form of one he was doing). Im 14 and have done Tae Kwon Do for about 3 years and just started Northern Eagle Claw Kung Fu 3 months ago. Some of his stances looked like Eagle Claw. Steel, Horse, and Arrow looked like they were used there, but I still dunno. It was pretty impressive that he used his martial arts in a real fight, even if he was a beginner.

If you paid attention, you'll see the red-shirt guy was sticking up for a guy who got hit while he was down. The guy in black is having his second fight in a row, which he loses. I think the red-shirt guy kept his balance nicely, dodged well and parried EVERYTHING that came his way. Regardless of his stance, rank or experience, he taught a bully a lesson...in front of his friends. Well done!!

Above is my myspace account. You can see that this is truly me. ive read all of your comments and ive been on multipule sites where this video is on. And also ready everyones comment for the most part. It's amazing that only 5% of you realy get it. Im going to cover most of the converstations gernal aspects in this explanation of why this fight took place and why i did what i did. First of off, im 23 years old going to be 24 this month. When this fight happened i was 17 and had been taking a few differnet things sense i was 7 years old which means i had been taking differnet types of arts for over 10 years. Everyones saying that its this art or that art or that kid doesnt know what hes doing, I'm not going to try to educate the people that are just restarted and would normaly be the instigaters at a fight but yet i am going to educate and shed some light to the people that do pay attention. I was tought and belive soul heartedly that you bring yourself down to your apoinets level where you dont damage but make them learn a lession, The mexican kid was in the wrong he was in another fight right befor me and was beating this little kid while he was on the ground and basicly out the kid couldnt defend himself so i pulled the mexican kid off and said dude thats enough he got the point. then he went at me and his friends wanted to jump in, i had friends there but they all knew these kids didnt know what they were getting themself into, As far as kung fu there are differnet types of kung fu and other martial arts and some styles like Long fist teach you to keep your apoint away from you where you have others like Chin-Na that teach you how to grab and control which would be (CLOSE) fighting, The arts ive taken realy dont matter, The fact of the matter is i dont fight unless i see something wrong and im standing up for whats right. and all you "fake, spinless, cowards" out there that wouldnt stand up for whats right should be F**king shot. Now like i said i have been taking differnet arts for over 10 years and almost over 16 years now, and all the pretty S**t is called Practicing forum, that way when you actualy are in a fight things come to you first nature where you just react . I've always been impressed by the ability to see a punch or kick and react to it before it comes in that split second. I mean, the mexican guy sure did telegraph his first punch, but he threw some quick ones after that, and the white dude dodged them all like he was in slow motion.

All those stances were for psychological, I don't know if anyone noticed, but his punches were just wild swings, what an idiot.

This is a terrible martial arts stance, whatever it is, and it's certainly not Kung Fu. Kung Fu is a form of Chinese boxing, and rejects all this sort of flowery showmanship you see in this video (Taekwondo, too). Kung Fu was developed to WIN FIGHTS as soon as possible...not for exercise (like Taijiquan, or "Tai Chi"), for competition (Taekwondo), or anything else. It was developed (although this is up for a little dispute by some) for an army to win a war. This is why Kung Fu works so well, just like Krav Magra works well, and the USMC style of combat works.

One question, who's still standing?

First I just want to say that I have been training in martial arts for many years, including Kung Fu and other MAs (so I know what I'm talking about).
This video was hilarious, seing the kid with the blackshirt get scared and all that. But I just wanted to warn the white guy. I give him props for the way he handled the situation, using the stance was good in a sense that it had a chance of getting the other guy to decide not to fight, but that's about it. Now, his stance seemed similar to the 7star-praying mantis but it looks as tho he learned it from a book or movie or something, I doubt he's even Orange Sash level. Now for my warning, he was clearly not physically capable of getting away with that form against someone who had any clue what they were doing. As a a couple people mentioned earlier, his front leg was a terrible weak spot, he was putting too much weight on it every time he moved his back leg and any semi-decent fighter with bad intentions would've broken his knee cap right away... FACT :(
BTW, a real Kung Fu master in that situation would've just told the guy with the black shirt: 'look i'm a kung fu master, be wise and leave' , that SHOULD be enough, but if it's not and the black guy doesn't believe him, then a couple of quick high kicks in a sequence in the air should be enough to have the black guy realize he better not mess with him. lastly if the guy still insists, and 'tries' to punch him, a master will probably just grab the black guy's hand and twist it till the guy says mercy lol, simple stuff, no badly executed forms or any time wasting.
Once again to the kid with the orange shirt (and others like him, you know who you are), your leg will get broken, don't think you know what you're doing or you'll regret it, it takes YEARS of training before you can get away with a form like that in a fight against a capable fighter,you were lucky the other guy was clueless.I hope that clarified some.

this isnt really a style at all. if he takes karate, or any type of martial arts, im surprised ANYONE can tell me what style it is. firstly, his stance is off balance. hes too much in a straight line, a stance has to have both depth and width. his stance had a shitload of depth, practically no width, and couldve gotten his front knee\ankle broken at any time had the black kid known what he was doing.

ill give the white kid this: he didnt get hit at all, and did somewhat block all of the kids ...'punches' ...but no way in hell thas a palm heel. palm heels go straight from the chamber, or from the shoulder (if you have your hands up in more of a boxing stance), they DONT EVER HOOK. the only punches that hook, are hook punches =D very simple. he just kinda smacked the kid ghetto style, trying to whip up enough force and hit with a hard part of his hand. which worked ...but it isnt martial arts.

i'd wouldn't have used the stance to be honest, my favourite is a side-kick to the throat. That worked once on someone twice my size, agree the best way is to wait for your opponent to come to you, but if you know he wants to hurt you don't waste time showing off just teach him a lesson. impressed by the PARRYING blocks though. P.S. tae-kwon-do is awesome and after 5 years i swear by it, wish me luck for competition on sunday.

The Kung Fu kid was cool in the fact that he stood up for himself. He was humble not to make the first strike when the opponent was adjust his shirt, sock. It would be nice if he did a bruce lee side kick and see the other guy fly back and landed on the pavement. It was entertaining though, but necessary in similar situation. His form is too obvious, and not much surprise movement, no kicking, no elbow, or knee. But I would give it a B+ for his form and his heroic effort, and for a novice :-)

I've never trained in any Martial Arts, nor do I know anything about them. But I do know he did a great job of fighting. I fight very similar to that. Wait for the enemy to attack and let them wear themselves down, then when they get tired, you throw the final punch.

It's more mind games than anything. But most streetfighters don't think before fighting.

This is just great, I love to see a martial arts fight where the guy really used his training. The other guy has no idea how to fight, just a big mouth. I am proud of this kid. He did the right thing, he had no source to turn to so used his basic 5 stance to deal with the creep. I took kung-fu myself and it was exciting to see this. As you can tell just the basic fighting stance threw of the opponent.

Anyone who grew up in Southern California can see that the guy is obviously Mexican. The white guy looks really fruity hopping around like that, but he does execute a nice hand job! In all seriousness he looks like he's been training in some sort of kung fu, hence the low stance, but he does chamber back his right hand which means that whatever style he takes is pretty gay, and he has probably only been training for a short time. Still impressed that he could actually utilize that awkward stance, and nice hammer fist to the culos face.

Mos of you talk about martial arts and have no idea about even the basics. TKD is not the same as kung fu. Kung fu is chinese, TKD is korean. By the way, the fuckin moron who said its a sport and not a martial art...you dont know S**t It is practised in a sporting capacity without a doubt, but has been a martial art long before it ever was used as a competative sport.
True MOST chinese martial ats dont use belts, they often use a sash, and the colors are somewhat different. As are between many japanese arts. The only universal guage of rank is 10th - to 1st Kyu' (those ranks are all below what is commonly known as 'black belt. (which is 'yudansha' or 'shodan ho'
The ranks of and above black belt are 'Dan' grades, also known as 'degree's'.
Even amoung the same art, but different schools colors r often differerent, so using your ranks color as a means of explaining your level is the sign of an amatuer, an ignorant one at that.
Ive studied martial arts for 19 years, and taught for over 10. You people should'nt talk as if u know about a subject unless u actually do.

You can see from the first stance that the guy trains martial arts. He has technique and not only that, he takes the training seriously. True warrior BS is nice when you practice for several years and learn to master not only the moves but also the atitude. To say that everyone who practices martial arts should be a "true warrior" is ridiculous. Also, the atitude is heavily dependent on the dojo/sensei; some people teach karate, kung-fu in an agressive manner while others teach as a lifestyle...

as with most punch ups we see from our american cousins....lots of talk...very little action
