Rescue workers try to pull him out.
ALL OF YOU! As if ANY of you, including myself, would've thought that he'd be sucked in once the bags were removed! Gimme a break and stop being such hypocrates!
By skyds 1162952199 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIf im the guy who pulled the bags out, i would have thought about securing myself with a line first, and if im one of the rescuers, i would have improvised a snorkel ( a lead pipe would do). I guess they all panicked.
By Jerry70 1162659522 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhen you are a rescue worker you do not take time to make a snorkel to try and save a guy. If they took a min or 2 to make one before they tried to save him, he would die. When you have a job like they do you act first, and think about your life after that. Just think of the brave firefighters on 9/11.
The sucktion of the pipe was way bigger then anyone could have guessed, so thinking that it would S**k you down was not the first thing on his mind.
as a person from Brisbane Australia, i can tell that we don't often get rain like that, so things like that don't happen very often. the guys did the right thing!! good on them!
By yummy01 1163068701 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removetotally agree.
By outland2442 1162838249 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeknow what: he was a beginner. The older more experienced men should have informed him. He's there to learn, not to drowned.
By Lil_Angel_1 1162826209 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Remove...that you actually think that, had they realised this could happen, they wouldn't have prevented it for him being a rookie???
Man, how stupid are you?!
do better in my mathematic test if i saw it before and enuf time to think about it.
there wont be any accidents if we noe...stupid
If I were you, I would use a calculator to make my calculations faster and make things work better. What ya think!?
By Jansian 1162812608 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeyou would have thought of that, sure.
By gurimalla 1162817836 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou couldn't pay me enough to clean stuff up like that, They could have saved a ton of money if they used crack heads to clean out the drains, hell if you lose a crack head no big loss but a regular person man that is tragic
By Film Cricket 1163813557 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYeah but then you'd have a drain clogged with crackheads ...and so on and so on....then again, they'd be dead crackheads
By mindl 1164526807 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeis the first rule of underwater drowning when you cannot get their head above water. take a breathe and go under to pass it to him. this way he can breath consistantly instead of swallowing water.
By assisting breathe 1162817622 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveFirefighters have something that looks a lot like scuba gear on their trucks so they can have clean air in a smoke-filled building. Why didn't they just get one of those things and strap it to him?
By boingo 1162775796 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI am the firerman/ rescuer and at the start of the video I asked how big the hole was and you can see him indicating it was only about 4-5" in diametre. they were not bags of grass but sandbags. no time to get a hose for him to breath through. just pull him up to the surface. our breathing apperatus are not designed to work underwater. thanks steve
By blazer37 1213613936 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI think you guys did a great job! Well done. Nobody could have know that would happen and you guys did what you could in an emergancy situation.

idiots..yes his boss should be canned and they all need to go back to safety class
By airrater 1165334054 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemovePOOR MAN.... IF ONLY TOOK MORE CAUTIONS ABOUT THAT SYPHON EFFECT....
By rikochet33 1165182251 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveSnorkel is no option. When youre 1m under the water line, the pressure goes up till 1bar...under that kind of pressure your lungs are just not strong enough to breath in.
Snoreling is ok when you are swimming, because your lungs are right beneath the water
No one can tell when they may be called home. These men were being tested and they passed. Praise God for our ability to learn. This group will be more than ready next time.
Hind site is always 20/20. The more people that view this video the more aware we are of the hazards in life that we can potentially be faced with. Be prepared for anything.
By Rakemashta 1163076067 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removedudes...its amazing he survived.... it was good he had frends and partners like that....if i was him...i would have died of shock in the first 30 seconds!!....
By guitar lord 1163070484 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveFirst of all The guy who pulled the bags out was probably thinking it is just the job he's been doing so many times there shouldn't be any problem he grabed the guy's hand that's is usually enough. So he is not stupid it's what most people would do. 2nd in a water THAT DIRTY and AT NIGHT do you think the guy in the water wounld know it's a snorkel and they are trying to help him? 3rd they got their hands full trying to pull him out that's how strong the sucktion is What's going to happen if you put a pipe there. The pipe is going to slip out of your hand faster the you can imagine. Don't you agree

They did say he was a new to the game guys!! Lucky man indeed though!
By lobo123 1162674267 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNo one thought to cut 2 feet off of one and pass it under to use as a snorkle? My very first instinct would have been to take my hard hat off and place it on surface to trap air and push it under and over the guys face. Even that would have bought him several minutes... brute force seems like the worst choice but that is all they thought to use... I am glad it worked out for the guy though.
By Foznor 1162657163 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeis one lucky guy!
By bachuchay 1162649779 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIdiots should of known what was going to happen and secure a rope on him before pulling the bags out.
By screechs 1162649744 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei dont like to be there......very scary
By A2002 1162649522 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethis was terrifying!!! i was sooo glad they made it!!! very good job by them all!!! congrats!!! BUT
