Helicopter in The Hood

Sadly, a one hundred old man was being given that flight as a gift by his family. He originally survived the accident but then died from complications about 2 weeks later.

most 100 year old people cant drive much less fly a helicopter. What idiot come up with this plan.

About this being sad and the 100 year old man; It wasn't him flying the chopper, he got a RIDE in the chopper for his 100th birthday wich had been a life long dream of his and the chopper malfunctioned resulting in this crash. No one was trying to fly along the street and certainly not the poor old man. Saw it on Norwegian news around last summer. So it really is a bit sad though...

People get helis and decide they are just going to hover an inch off the ground, then it gets away from them. This heli had been rebuilt, and they wanted to just TRY IT OUT a little, and then you can see it get away from the non-certified pilot. I have seen 4 of these videos of people that go out and get a used heli (lottery winners) and then try to play with them, they all end the same.
I don't know where the 100 year old man rumour came from, but in any event, no one died in this, but another nice heli was trashed.
It was sold later on Ebay for parts. It was in the USA and their is no N number on the heli follwoing its rebuild and new paint, so FAA would not want it in the air.

Looks as though he didn't have enough lift, but he should have set down again, rather than try to gain lift by forward motion between trees.
Doesn't sound to be at full power.

Pilots inability to maintain controlled flight. Contributing factors... "rotorblade contact with the light pole". I'd like to know the full story as well as the NTSB findings. It almost looks like the Helo shutters just before it hits the pole, could be a loss of power. I think he was trying to gain airspeed for greater lift. I'm quite positive that the passenger wasnt at the controls. It takes too much training and money to receive your license to allow that, as well as a Helicopter is one of the most difficult machines to master.

No offense is intended do ANYONE here but I feel u've got to admit, modern pilots are all bull____ I dont think he did this on purpose even from what he did immediately after takeoff it just looked like he lost control.

Excuse me, but where in the hell is this guy taking off from exactly, havent we heard of the proper venue's for such an event, and by god, who the hell would let a 100 year old who doesnt know how to fly take a turn at the flightstick, mabey a birthday cake would of sufficed.
