The site of the battle of "Mount Badon" or "Mount Badonicus", where King Arthur and his knights ended their campaign of twelve battles, and finally defeated the invading Saxons. Now known as Liddington Castle, the original earthworks are bronze age, occupied through to the iron age and then reoccupied during the Roman period.
