    Ok, I am part of an Integrated Weapons Team that specializes on the F/A-18C- Our shop must have played this video a hundred times and finally came to the conclusion that the A-4 in this video was at least a couple hundred yards behind and slightly below the Hornet. The object jettisoned from the hornet only looked like it flew upwards at the skyhawk, but it in fact fell to the left of the hornet and then continued straight back. The A-4 pilot saw this "thing" heading twards him and tried to bank away, as you can see in the video. As far as we can tell, it was a VER (variable ejection rack) that was jettisoned from station #3.

      The plane that is getting hit is actually filming what is a weapon test (blank though), and the weapon in question flies upwards, which it wasn't meant to be.

      I never looked at this one too closely though i always had my doubts about a dropped object going upwards. All you've gotta do is look at the smoke from the plane that'S**t Right after it'S**t , you see the smoke in front of the plane that dropped the bomb meaning that the hit plane was behind the other plane.

      This is actually real, in the full video the aircraft that is hit continues to spin around, explodes and the pilots eject just before impact on ground... They didnt survive tho, burned.... It was an airshow, so it where dummies the aircrafts where carrying

      there was no explosion from detination so it wasnt meant for tht aircraft to be hit, plus no jet out back of it if it was a misile. so it was falling, and it just hit the other plane

    First it is an F18 Hornet releasing the object...

    It is not:

    - a fueling plane or parts of a fueling hose above the F18...
    - a general purpose bomb dropping...
    - a piece of the plane falling of...

    BUT A MISSILE SOMEHOW RELEASED, HITTING THE FUSELAGE OG THE OTHER PLANE. IT DID NOT EXPLODE BUT TORE OF PART OF THE WING.

    It is still amazing how the missile took such a steep path.

    You say that its impossible to drop the object upwards but your forgettin that the aircraft was in descent at the time of releasin the weapon
    However it didn't seem much of an impact to be a bomb

    it is not a missle, hornets missle racks are located under the wing, the peice fell from the side of the nose. bombs are to big to be put on the nose of the air craft. also hornets are not outfitted to refuel other aircraft in mid air, thats the job of larger aircraft, not fighters, so it is not a refueling hose, a missle, or a bomb. if anything it is part of the nose falling off. it looks like part of the air intake. missles and bombs are not launched from directly infront of the intake. its also an extreme fire hazard for the F-18 to have a fuel intake and/or export. from word of a few sources of mine, it is a fuel tank, nothing else, so quite guessing and accusing.

  • Variable Ejector Rack?

    In the Air Force we were taught that a VER was a Verticle Ejector Rack. There was nothing variable about it! I was a "bomb loader" for 20 years and loaded MER's, TER's and VER's with a variety of weapons. The object certainly looked larger than a standard MK-82 bomb. Might have been a missle as it appeared to be flying straight after release from the aircraft. An ejector rack, like a VER would most likely tumble once released. The only other thing it might be is a guided bomb. The guidence unit and fin assembly make them pretty long, as this object appeared. But the Navy fly's some specialized ordanance for their mission. Could be some type of torpedo (but at a high altitude release?). Hope the pilot got out ok.

      IT WAS NOT A MISSILE! didn't you read!? it releases it while ON DESCENT. the plane was going down faster than the bomb/whatever, and the object just simple seemed to "float" up and hit the plane. a MISSILE HAS A VISIBLE CONTRAIL! Doesn't anyone watch anything!? has anyone here even cracked a book in a year or so!?
