Machine Gun Vs Katana

  • Perfectly good waste...

Huzzah! For a moment there, steel hath defeated lead! The softest (solid) metal on the table of elements! Oh wait, it somehow kinda destroyed the katana. Pretty funny though! Looked really cool when the katana broke off and flipped around in slow motion, capturing the streak of reflecting light in the slow motion cameras. There's still absolutely no advantage over a machine gun... I was surprisied enough that they aimed an automatic weapon so accurately as to hit the sword so many times...

    • This is NOT lead

Browning m2hb uses many types of ammo, most of them with tungsten carbide penetrator. I don't know what type of ammo was used here but this mg is very powerful and has excellent armor penetrating capabilities. Durability of this sword is pretty impressive.

    • Edge must endure longer, prob +5 or more

because the edge part of the sword uses harder metal. It use 3 different hardness metals from edge to grip, so the middle part was not harder than the edge.

    • Yeah.

I was thinking that the fine treated metal of the sword would slice the soft lead. Id still choose the weapon though, to shoot the guy holding it :).

  • Music

Hey does anybody know the name of the song from 2:58 - to the end?

I remember it was from a movie but I don't recall exactly from which one.

  • Katana

Katana is very durable at the blade and would split, slice or cut just about anything for a High quality daily and rigerious cutting sword. The most strongest point is at the curvature of the sword and at the sharp part of the blade where it has been forge out of the strongest and the rarest metal today.

  • VERY VERY IMPRESSIVE

I am in the military, and i deal with this typ of machine gun on a regular basis, I also know well its capabilities and power (.50 cal Ball ammo will pierce 2 in of hardend armor plate easy) but to see a Katana to be able to split a .50 cal round in to is almost freakish

  • Wow

6 rounds from a .50BMG, even one would have been suprising. That swordsmith obviously has some talent. As far as a metal bar splitting a bullet, that's a possiblity, but only with an edge and a durable metal. A lead bar would probably break, maybe even some types of Steel. And in all practicality, there's not really going to be any moment someone will attack you with a machinegun (unless you're military and I bet most here arn't) or with a sword (unless your neighbors are crazy).

  • is this to prove how sharp a samuri swor...

One thing i noticed was how even after the edge was destroyed, the blade still managed to split a few more rounds.
So is it the blades sharpness or would a hardened metal bar do the same, obviously with a triangular section

  • hmm

An interesting display. I'd still chose the katana, at 3am, behind enemy lines rather than an m-304 artillery setup that requires 15 minutes to setup ;)
