I'm not sure there has been any war that started throughout history for a religious reason. Did the crusades start because of religion ? I doubt it very much. Nor is terrorism initially motivated by religion. It develops in that way. Middle east and issues with Israel : Nothing and really nothing to do with religion in the first place. They took some land, they got hated for it, and the hate of all the countries around is not 100% religious either. Maybe 10% ?!
Religion is a very convincing disguise for the real reasons of a conflict. I underline once more, because i don't want to be misunderstood : it's not the initial reason, it develops into a reason for the poor : a vast majority of terrorists believe it's the right thing to do because they have the religious right. But were the attacks of 9/11 religiously motivated ? Again, I doubt it.

Ok, first niceman, you're just an idiot. I hate to call people out and call them names, but you've earned it. For one, in order for propoganda to work, it must be believable and make sense. If the soldier was attacked by 4 RPG's immediately after the sniper fire, why did the sniper even fire? Why not just use 1 RPG round, why not use all 4 in the beginning instead of wasting the (obviously very talented) snipers time? By the way...a guy that uses a rifle that can't kill his target at 75 yards is not a sniper and he is using the wrong rifle.
Second, some view America as a bullying nation, or a meddling nation, and other view America as the ideal nation. I'm fine with that. Every person is entitled to their own belief. There are a couple of countries that protect themselves (someone said we were the only one), but that is beside the point. What makes America stand alone is the fact that we give up our own citizens, who volunteered their time, and life is necessary, to protect others, American or not. Oddly enough, that is what the UN is supposed to do, but has never done. We have sent troops to the farthest corners of the earth to remove evil and protect innocent people. Does America have our own problems, sure, what country doesn't. But we are willing to assist others as well.
Third, God. I personally do not beleive in God. That's my thing though, and I will never criticize or belittle someone that does, or Buddha, or Allah, or any of the 100's of other "God's" out there. People need to believe in something according to their own faith. To tell them that they are wrong, is simply wrong. If they truly feel that is what is correct for them, then it ok. I'm pretty certain that no religion, including Muslim, "praises and rewards" killing the "lesser" people. What God could honestly want that? And if that God really did want that, why did He create those people in the first place?
Lastly, I'm an American citizen. Born in California, raised in many different parts of the WORLD. My father, mother, brother, sister in law, wife and I are/were all military, one branch or another. I have lived in 6 different countries and am headed to another one in less than a year. My wife and I have both deployed to the desert, and I have had many close friends and co-workers go as well. We are there for the right reasons. It's unfortunate that this war is happening, yes, but it's neccessary. Yeah, yeah, brainwash, blah, blah. I truely wish that you could see what happens outside of the media coverage. It's very different than what is depicted on TV.
I am in South Korea right now. I have been away from my wife and 1 year old daughter for 3 months now, and won't be home for 9 more months. Many of my brothers and sisters are in the same boat. It is a huge sacrafice, and I wish I could be home, I really do. But unfortunately, there are so many dumb and power hungry people doing evil things out there that it requires us to be here, again, protecting those that can't protect themselves.
