How can you say both are in the wrong in one sentence and in the next say "I don't know what started it but.."?

Case #1: If the old man started it, the kid should've walked away instead of knocking the old man out. In this case, the old man is in the wrong for starting the fight and the kid is in the wrong for punching back when he could've easily just walked away. Case #2: If the kid started it, he's in the wrong for starting the fight in the first place and the old man is also in the wrong for kicking the kid in retaliation when he could've also walked away. It's not like either person was running at the other with a knife which would warrant self-defense.

They just went out and found a person that was weaker than they were. Is he going to beat up an 8 year old next to prove how tough he is?

If that was me, I would have done EXACTLY the same thing. Because people are old they have license to attack people? Whether the kid did something the guy didn't approve of or not doesn't matter. If someone does something I don't approve of, I have no right to kick them and throw punches. Someone doesn't have the right to attack who they see fit just because they are old, and I have no sympathy for this old scumbag and hope he learned his lesson.

First off, they probably didn't show the beginning of the fight because they started it. Second, have you ever heard of senillity or alzhimers disease?
