    She was doing something that takes guts, how many of you would stand out there on your own, and sing in front of all those people, it went wrong, she retreated for a moment, then came back. That takes even more guts, with a crowd of idiots laughing and shouting insults. Why didn't all those brave americans stand and take up the song?
    The shame is not on her, it's on the people who laughed at her misfortune, the people who shame America.

    and I find you all apologizing her for not knowing the lyrics for a National Anthem. YOUR National Anthem. AND for going and getting them and trying once more, now reading from a cue card.
    PLUS, your claiming "ooh, he shame is on the bad people shouting at her". Yeah, great positive thinking and good Karma BS, guys! Get a life.

    SHAME?! Shame is going to do something and not doing it. I HAVE sung my National Anthem many times. And done much more in front of many people. Guess what? I prepared for it.
    She is not american, she is French Canadian. Well, first - what the hell was she doing singing the American National Anthem in the first place? It's just stupid, when an anthem is a symbol of our devotion, of our country. Shame on the people, yes, but for letting a foreigner lead them in their own anthem.

    It does take guts to come back after that, yes. BUT NOT WITH A CUE CARD!!! C'mon!! A cue card?!?! What was she going to do, sing the anthem reading the card? It's just that I can't think of a worse way to do it.

    HOW TO SING AN ANTHEM - you just have to feel it. Not with a glamorous voice, no. Not with great music in the back. Men have sung it in the direst of conditions and it would sound perfect... because it's their National Anthem...

    She had a great voice. I think she just got nervous. She was under a lot of pressure...with all eyes on her. Unless you have been in front of all those people plus the possible millions viewing via TV,I don't you should come down so hard on her. At least she tried to correct a mistake by coming back....then the fall!! Poor girl!
