this is a lot better than if she nailed it perfectly,im not american and i've heard the anthem a bunch of time,this is the first time the whole anthem touched my heart, perfomances like this are the real thing,not some perfomance by an over rehearsed star who is probably lip singing,and then she went on to finish with the aide of the gentleman, together we indeed stand, too bad all some people will see is failure even in triumphant times cause they are such huge failures themselves.

She did her best, most of us would have just walked off. She may not be the best singer but that's not the easiest song either. My hat off to her effort.

I can't believe so many comments were filtered. How can anybody say anything bad about this situation. I'm sure the girl studied the song long and hard, but when faced with the bright lights and crowd of thousands looking at you, it's easy to "freeze". Even professionals will admit to it. And kudos to the coach who immediately saw the need to step in and give the poor girl some assistance. I wonder how many of the idiots who left negative comments would have the nerve to do what this girl did. I salute her, the coach and the crowd.

Have ANY one of you that knocked the performer tried to perform the National Anthem in front of a crowd in a gymnasium/stadium? I'd be to say not; unless you've done it, stfu. When I was a senior in high school I had the privilege of playing the anthem for our home basketball games. I am a saxophone player, and I can honestly say I never made a mistake with the phrasing...did I make mistakes elsewhere, maybe a breath where I shouldn't have taken it and etc? Yeah, why? Performance pressure causes these subtle mistakes...and as a singer, if you draw a blank in a performance situation and can't recover, this happens. It's totally understandable...at least if you know what it's like to try it.

It is not easy to stand up & sing in front of thousands of people, yet alone all the TV cameras, and lights flashing . I think she done very well, especially for a 13 year old. Everyone thinks they can do it till they try! I thought she was great, and the guy who came up to help her too. Not easy.
