Wasp jumps on another
I asked what was going on with these 2 wasps at allexperts.com. The reply I got from Eric said:
"At this time of year, in your area, you had to be witnessing interaction between two yellowjackets, social wasps in the genus Vespula. If the two wasps looked identical to each other, it was likely two males engaged in ritual combat (whereby they do not hurt each other). Males are not capable of stinging."
yes male wasps are incapable of stinging get your facts right woman....
By muse_star_uk 1166504189First of all, they are both male wasps.....2nd of all they are not fighting, the wasp that was on the nest went to "feed" from the male wasp (regurgitation) that just came back to the nest. And finally, it's true, male wasps CANNOT sting. This nest is in it's late stages...end of summer, this is when the non-fertile female workers lay their eggs which hatch only males.
By dvolkert1970 1206419368I'm no wasp expert, just like to watch them going about their business. Since you sound like you are an expert, I'll say thanks for clearing things up!
By jojo999 1206421768these bees are gays, all of them are male and he jumped to kiss his boyfriend! lol!
