  • I'm not saying all ...

I'm not saying all of the global warming claims are valid or that the polar bear is definitely going extinct, there is some controversy on both topics, I'm just saying that it would be a significant event if a rapid extinction did come to pass and it could well have consequences beyond the arctic. Leaving all that aside, I think they have some intrinsic merit to start with, although that appears to be a point you disagree with.

  • You're missing the ...

You're missing the point. Most of the past extinctions were either gradual or caused by some sort of cataclysmic climactic event. It does take the ecosystem a while to adjust and there were/are often far-reaching consequences. The more recent ones we brought about were of animals lower on the food chain. There's a domino effect if an apex predator is quickly eliminated.

  • In the 4.5 billion ...

In the 4.5 billion year history of the earth, which includes the extinction of 99.9% of all species that have ever lived, the polar bear is the main cog that will reek havoc on the ecosystem for the enitre world. I'll take my chances.

bringing about the rapid extinction of an apex predator like the polar bear creates a dramatic imbalance within the ecosystem, which could potentially have dire consequences for not only other arctic species, but others throughout the globe. numbnuts.
