    And subsequent movie annoys the crap out of me. It's just like Y2K. The Mayans didn't even say that 12/21/12 would be the end of the world, just the end of a period of time! And what did they really "warn" us about? There's no clear sign that the Mayans even knew what would happen! This is just a thinly veiled attempt to show the inconsistencies of the world government. They should have at least used a different catastrophe, like an alien invasion or a comet. You know, something "original."
