not a croc, as you say they are bigger and have a long snout and are about 5 to 10 times more vicious than a relatively tame alligator/ cayman (caiman)?
By Ver0 1164218105 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhere do you get your info? The Caiman in this video looked to be at least 5ft long. And you said crocs are about 5 to 10 times bigger. You are talking about 25ft to 50ft crocs, i mean cmon .... cmooooooooooooon.
By sikatriz 1164263180 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removehe said crocs are 5 to 10 times more vicious, however you measure that. Salt water crocs grow up to 7-9 metres which is about 23-30 feet in your language. And theres no way a panther would stand a chance against a croc, a croc has way too much strength for the panther to hold it under, but i guess a panther wouldn't be stupid enough to try. Speaking of which why did the panther kill the caiman he didn't even eat it at the end? maybe he just wanted a bath.
By Blutonium_Boy 1164292439 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeok. he did say 5 to 10 more vicious, i misread that. but now you are saying saltwater crocs are 7 to 9 meters? that is also insane. The biggest crocs you will find in the wild are under 7 meters. There are records of bigger crocs but they are always found in captivity where they do god knows what to get them that size.
By sikatriz 1164351543 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removenile crocodiles can get even bigger than that! nile crocodiles are nasty buggers actually, they are responsilbe for about 300-400 human deaths a year ( around that, im sure). it is possible, creatures that old and highly evolved.. it makes sense that they are massive
By rarra 1164380987 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveSome people here have seen jurassic park so many times now
By justheretocomment 1164355745 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt’s spelled caiman, but good comment tough. I think the commentator is wrong.
Same damn thing. The caiman is just a smaller version of the croc and don't get quite as large. Although they do get to a decent size. The caiman is also more common to areas like the Caribbean and environs. We don't really have large crocs or gators down here. But we do get alot of the caiman. The biggest we might get is about 4 or 5 feet though. But all in all they are practically the same. Similar habitats but just different size ranges. I must add also that the Black Panther (Black Jaguar) is the sickest cat around. Totally outclasses even the tiger. It can swim, climb trees even while carrying it's prey, see in the dark and has the most powerful Jaw crushing power out of all the cats. Kudos to the BADDEST ASS CAT in the wild.
By DigiSLIM 1164223512 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeif you would call the hyena a cat it actually has the largest bite force pound for pound and those lazy cant even kill there own prey good for nothings aren't very cool, except in the lion king.
By Blutonium_Boy 1164295605 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveK, the hyena ain't even close to being a cat, more along the lines of a dog, if anything, and also each animal catches its own prey every now an then, but they take turns stealing eachothers food. A male lion will kill and eat a hyena, or chase 'em away an take their kill, jaguars an leopards will, on occasion also steal hyenas, but its more often than not that the hyena steals the formers. Hyenas are the ones that kill the most animals for food of all the above mentioned. Savvy?
By Elmo_fud 1164314933 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Remove...but they hunt at night and until recently their kills were seldom observed. Hyena's bad rep as a scavenging prey thief is undeserved, as a matter of fact lions and other large cats often muscle in on hyena kills forcing the latter to reluctantly share the meal. Hyenas are pack hunters related to dogs and wolves, working for the pay is a way of life for them, while cats are more opportunistic predators who'll only work for food when they have no other alternative.
By Guynextfloor 1164313701 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeis in the Dog family. So you made good points but Null and Void.
By DigiSLIM 1164295729 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removemy bad it looks like hyenas do hunt there own prey, but they aren't in the dog family they are in there own family which is closely related to mongooses and meercats. I guess they really are as cool as the lion king made them out to be.

By -madhatter 1164667478 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt's a jaguar. A Black Panther is the informal term for a jaguar (leopard or puma also) with melanism. Panther also refers to any big cat from the genus Panthera (eg. Lion, Tiger, Leopard, Jaguar).

By NoFatChix 1164253304 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI watched the leapards in the Philadelphia Zoo for a good half hour. I noticed something chilling; as they paced back and forth, the only thing they'd stop for, to take a longer more focused stare, was when I child walked by their cage. And I don't think they were making just friendly, curious gazes. Amazing and braze animals yes, but if they were let loose, I think they'd hunt the little ones first.
By RipUaNew1 1164239123 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThey will choose the safest way to obtain food and go after the young, the sickly and the elderly first, simple survival instinct. Unlike human hunters equipped with high powered rifles, animals must deal with prey that will defend itself and may even kill the predator in the process (an adult zebra's hoof can crack a lion's skull) so they have to take prey size and strength into account.
