The origins of "global warming" alarmism had its roots in the 1970s-era fears of "global cooling" and an impending ice age, resulting from the 1940-1970 global temperature decline. Swedish meteorologist Bert Bolin suggested at the time that man-made greenhouse gas emissions might offset the cooling by warming the atmosphere.

The earth has cooling and warming cycles since the beginning of time. How long have meteorologists been keeping recorded temps? For the last 100 years or so? Scientists were predicting in 1974 that we were entering an ice age. They can't even get the weather forcast right for next week. I have read that other planets are warming. Why would this be? Too many martians in their spaceships?

Aren't scientologists at the forefront of this? Well to better understand someone, let's look at their beliefs, scientology...

They 1. Believe that we are from another planet.
2. They believe that we were lost souls, forced to watch propoganda, and are let loose.
3. They believe our spirits came down to Earth, inside of the bodies we have now.

Global Warming may infact be truth...but frankly, I disagree...

is gonna change anything, so basically why worry about it at all? | personally believe that humans have negatively affected the cycles that determine our weather. How could we NOT affect it? Simply the sheer number of humans on the planet is a large enough factor, you have to take it into account.

Will it 'kill' the planet? Will we grow oranges in Alaska? Will we see another ice age? Not in our lifetimes. In fact, | doubt even our children will see a significant change during their own lifetime.

But the weather has changed. Things are not like they used to be at all. You talk about cycles, but even the 11 year cycle that changes the distance from the earth to the sun cant cover all the differences that have occured in weather from the early 70's until now.

None of it matters though. Theres no way humans can just up and totally change their entire existance, and thats if you could get all of them to agree on any one thing to start with.

So to hell with it, burn all the gas you can, start fires, throw your trash out the window, smoke cigarettes and stuff the butts in little birdies mouths, cuz lets face it, no one gives a fuck, and no ones gonna do shit about it, so burn it up till we're all dead and gone!

just look at the video see how happy they are. i mean we should let global warming continue so more people can be happy.

Thanks Modena, glad someone else feels the way I do. Global Warming as far as I am concerned is just the latest "the world is going to end" freak out. The world may be warming a little but I am convinced it is a natural cycle. The earth has had a few ice ages and there was few men around at the time to cause that one. Why are we so convinced we are the cause of this one. And predicting what the climate will be in 100 years. Come on. The world wide climate is the most complex system imaginable and we don't understand half of it. When we can reliably predict regional weather 10 days out I may start giving these 100 year predictions an iota of belief.
