Could be better
Lack of audio means this tutorial is not as good as it could be. Bear in mind that you are trying to teach by instruction. No audio means that if they miss something vital, then cannot replicate this then you would have adaquetely met the teaching objective

Demonstration not instruction.
The lack of actual instruction combined with poor video quality makes this not instructional in the slightest. It is more like a demonstration of the creation of a photoshop globe.

How did this lowly rated video (3.00 stars) get 15K viewers in the span of a half hour when there are videos rated 3.7 and higher that have been here longer and haven't even reached 10K views yet?

- One possible reason
  might be time difference, but most likely it is because the video is being linked to from other sites (embedded). That way, it may be visible to a much bigger audience than just the Metacafe visitors and score very high in a matter of just few hours. That is the main reason for some videos rated below 3 can never the less be collecting hits like crazy.
  
  Kipkay (a frequent uploader on Metacafe) has understood this and simply created his own web site (kipkay.com) with all his uploads embedded in one place. A bit lame thing to do if you ask me though, but that's another story.
