In 2003 Shahid was launched as the lead actor in Ken Ghosh’s love story Ishq Vishk and also won the Filmfare Best Male Debut award for his performance and became the boy next door. Than in the year 2004 he was seen in the thriller Fida and a romantic comedy Dil Maange More. Although both the movies’ were average at the box-office and grabbed so-so responses from movie-goers. The year though didn’t give him any hit but still his and Kareena Kapoor’s new love story became the talk of the town. In the year 2005 his releases like Deewane Huye Paagal and Vah! Life Ho Tho Aisa, were both entertaining without creating uproar at the box office. However in the same year Shikhar, in which he worked with Ajay Devgan, earned him a Star Screen awards nomination for Best Actor. Moving on to the next year, in 2006 he moved away from romantic to comedies when he played Raj Malhotra in the murder mystery 36 China Town and played Jeetu in Priyadarshan’s comedy Chup Chup Ke, both falling into the average-success category. These movies didn’t do very well at the box office but his on-screen pairing with Kareena was liked by all. Later in the year he was offered Vivaah, by Suraj Barjatya and it became the blockbuster of the year and a high grosser, his performance as Prem was widely appreciated. In 2007 Fool and Final slid by, while for his role as Aditya Kashyap in Jab We Met, Shahid was nominated for the Filmfare Best Actor Awards and the movie was one of the year’s biggest hits. In 2008 Kismat Konnection with Vidya Balan failed to shake the box office and only added to the list of averages. Now in 2009 this dashing young boy is ready to ‘dhan ta naa’ everybody’s heart with his latest movie Kaminey. With the kind of flight that the cutie-pie has taken to stardom these days, its not surprising that is showcase will be full of awards and rewards galore. Way to go Shahid… Distributed by Tubemogul.
