I think .LOG might be already in-coded into computer therefore, someone typing ".LOG" would see the time, like shown to you in the video.

- MICROSOFT GUYS DID IT..
Micri\osoft guys have put a code in the OS ,as a result,when .LOG is typed and saved in a notepad,current time and date is shown.This works on al versions of Windows..Check this out.

If you still want to go this long route, you might as well check out your Header and Footer too; they are also "saveable."
