Quick PC Startup!

His computer made 1H to reboot, he started the tip @2:01PM and finished at 3:01PM, a very slow reboot :p

Sure, My printer stopped working, I can't connect to MSN, I can't launch movies and hackers are now raiding my files regularly because I disabled my firewall BUT...my pc boots in 30 seconds..YAY!

That’s useful, but you have to take care what you’re disabling.
If you have doubts about one program, you can use the search to find the file name, then use properties then version to get a clue of who’s the programmer.. then decide whether to disable it or not (usually non of Microsoft’s are to be disabled)

i may as well release a video of me browsing the net nd downlading something id earn like 2k, it's stupid i mean a 13 yr old knows more about computers than these people most of the time

As a professional computer consultant, I plead with you not to release these little 'tip' videos without adding proper warnings to users that they could potentially prevent their systems from functioning properly if they don't know what they're doing. Although I serve businesses primarily, I spend countless hours 'reparing' pc problems in private homes that have been caused by people observing 'helpful' tips or someone's 'buddy' who thinks he knows what he's doing with computers. Save me some time and recommend that owners contact a professional BEFORE attempting any of your 'helpful' hints.

Watch what you're disabling before you disable it. :) If you don't know what the programs are, don't mess with them.

just saying but how do we know that some of those programs are realy needed and are system programs we could need them and closing one could naff up the whole computor so i wouldnt do it if i were you

You've seriously made over $1000 telling people this?! I've known this for years! It's not that big of a deal, if you can't figure out how to turn programs off on your computer you're an idiot...Just wish I told you people this and made the easiest grand ever.

I being the king noob of playing with pc's have un-checked some files from starting using this clip and found myself missing critical files, pc would reboot but no display, after spending 2 hrs re-formatting my pc its all good. I had previously used this clip to remove messenger and a few other things and found it very usefull and are by no means saying that this clip is bad news.Quite the opposite its 5 stars from me ....just no what your removing :D

Do no take off the Firewall and AntiVirus and also if u have AntiHacker but is a good trick

Disabled Winamp, Logitech Video, m-Router and Quick time. Don`t really notice much difference though..

can somebody please tell me how come everytime i try to watch one of those producer rewards video, the video doesnt work?

my system is too slow in booting, and even when its on and also when i wanna shutdown the system, av tried to delet5e unwanted stuffs on it but it dint change anytin, still slow, i have to open just 2windows if i wanna enjoy working on it or else it will just hang, what can i do.
some onne pls help me out.

i thought that startup progs were in the start menu "startup" tab, but found nothing there. thanks! please can you follow up with more detail on the things we dont need? they don't always have obvious names...

dont ever use msconfig to disable programs.
its only a temp fix.
open the program you want to disable and look for the setting to disable it from starting up.

These are applications that run after windows shell starts so while it saves memory and system resources, your shell doesnt come up faster. btw - good luck keeping your system running fast while downloading with limewire and protecting with AVG. Might as well put tissue paper in front of a semi truck and say "try to get through".

I deleted some stupid programs i didnt even know were still on my computer. Internet is running faster, And for all who say he should present a "warning", If you cant read abbv. you shouldnt run a computer without a grown up preasent. -_- .... nice tip KIP!

This video is very misleading. Most of the stuff running in the startup command are things YOU NEED. This video is very unclear and doesnt show anything of use to disable. You can royally mess up your computer with playing in msconfig.

When you configure Microsoft start up, you can change what starts up down to where microsoft runs. for example, do explorer you may make the program kind of not work

I'd rather use my Ace Utilities to pick which program should start while bootup. Or get another tweak tools .... It's more safer if you can not choose which program is save or not

And one i've used for quite a while. Sometiems you download software, and it bugs you by starting automatically. Using msconfig and the startup tab, you can minimize it to the programs you want. Also, the startup in your personal settings simply defines .exe files you would like to add to the startup menu by opening automatically. Other programs install themselves into the auto boot sometimes. I'll post a list of unnecessary tasks another time.

That's great and all, but you can't stop qttask.exe from loading like that, as it turns itself back on every time you reboot. You need to go to the Quicktime folder and manually delete qttask.exe.

you need to run your anti virus and firewall at startup, all others can wait until you open them manualy, what the guy says it will speed your startup time it does.
tip/ check what is running at startup through google.

For some things, I use that all the time, for programs that I only use every now and again, because then I can just start them manually, but as for programs that launch themselves and are used constantly, you don't want to just shut off all processes.

I suggest that you all Google a free program called Easy Cleaner 2.0.6.380
Near the middle of the page there are 8 screenshots- check out the one on the 2nd row to the right. "Startup... It allows you to disable the same things found in msconfig, without restarting.
