If you count the american's abilities to take your ass out before you can engage, your 1337 dogfighting skills may not matter.

Dogfighting means absolutely nothing if you go against American technology.

Before that SU-37 (or any other Russian jet) even knew where American planes were, it would already have been shot down by long-rang air-to-air missile launched from an F15, F16, or F18 that have far superior radar and can guide their missiles using the information they get from AWACS airplanes with their 500 mile radius Radar capability.

The SU-37 is a good dogfighting aircraft, but the only way it would be able to put its maneuverability to use was if Americans shut off their radar, and decided to go easy on them.

Other than that, Russian aircraft are cannon fodder against American aircraft.

Sure, the Su-37 may be currently the best dogfighter in the world, but who's dogfighting? Let the su-37 dogfight with the amraams fired from a cpl of dozen miles away. And another thing. Test pilots who get all the flying time in the world are a far cry from the rank and file Russian pilots who are hardly getting any. There is no substitute for flying time and experience.

It really doesn't matter how good the su-37 is, being that the Russians can't afford enough of them to matter. And nobody else has enough of them to matter either. The US has thousands of F-15s, 16s, 18s. and other planes. We can take the losses. Remember, during ww2 the sherman tank was no match for a tiger or panther tank one-on-one.....but we had 50,000 of them. Look who won.

Yes, but in that exercise a lot of the tactics the Americans would use(such as BVR engagements) were ommited to make things more interesting. Of course, if the Indians had high-off-borsight missiles with helmet aiming while we didn't, we were going to lose. The same thing happened in an exercise with the Israelis when we lost 220 out of 240 dogfights. THAT IS WHY WE KILL FROM LONG RANGE! Hold these exercises again with the aim9-x and lets see if those results are repeated. In any case, missiles now are so good that dogfighting is basically suicidal. You speak of real world? How many planes have we lost in combat since Viet-nam?

You have to keep in mind, the USAF no longer fights in str8 up plane vs plane combat. The fighter is part of a system. When an adversary faces an American fighter(or even a tank), he is also facing AWACS, Jstars, UAVs, the battlefield internet, and all the other technological advances the US has made. All considered, insurgency aside, nobody can beat us on the battlefield(or in the air) right now.

I don't know what you have been smoking or drinking, but the F-15 didn't see one minute of action during the Viet-nam war. Do your homework b4 you start insulting people. You must be the only armchair pilot in the world who thinks the F-15 flew in Viet-nam. Stick to video games.

f 15 didn't come out till vietnam was almost over it was the f 4 phantom in vietnam. the f16 was developed as a low cost alternative, but was never considered to be a replacement or same quality of fighter as the f 15. and what airforce shot down an american f15? when? It has never happened. and yes the american pilots still practice dogfighting and are very efective at it. the kill ratio of vietnam was 16 - 1 in favour of the americans. so who ruled the sky? they lost the war on the ground but not in the air.

104 kills to 0 losses... don't make me laugh... the f15's are exploding from time to time just by breaking the sonic barrier... they don't need an enemy to be shut down.

The F-15 has never been defeated in combat. Konehead's info is absolutly right. If F-15s are exploding from crossing the sound barrier, it's because their age. The day of the F-15 will end just like all great fighters b4 it. One thing is for sure. You won't be reading any posts from people who have faced an F-15 in combat. Ask the Syrians and the Iraqis how good the F-15 is.

kind of hard for the f22 to answer the challenge since it was still a protoype at the time. they have a replacement for the f22 on the drawing bord already why not challenge it? safe time to do it since it has not been made yet

You can shoot a target from a long distance and to do those maneuvers the Su37 needs to go close to full stop. A sitting duck for a missile!
You need speed and endurance.. No slow flight maneuvers..

For shooting a jet from long distance you need,very big radar and a long range missile.For exapmle,F-22 has nothing from these two things.When war in Iraq started,Mig-29 has shooted down a Tornade with his cannon,so it was a close combat.

well, i tell u what i dont know much bout aviation but i certainly do know that ur 'fantascic, brand new, especially designed 8th generation F-16 were so damn good that when transported to polish air base thay had to land in germany coz of technical problems. i'd be more carefull when showing of this american superiority.

u just dont get one point - su can land enywhere it wants - carrier, peace of road, long plain field even of ur damn roof if needen whereas ur all Fs must have a propper landing zone - well gues what do u attack first? airbases!

su's don't need a catapult to take off from a carrier!
