  • Totally real.

Not a troll. It is just a ballsy stunt. That amount of speed is possible with that hill. Look at ski jumpers. Also not a dummy he moves his hands in mid air.

  • How can any of you think this is real?

Seriously, I'm shocked how many of you think this is real.

    1) For how steep the hill was + how steep the ramp was, there is no way anyone would get that much speed and launch that far based on sliding alone. Maybe with rockets or something, but not just based on sliding and gravity.

    2) The splash caused when the guy supposedly lands in the pool splashes upwards, similar to how it would be if someone canon-balled directly from above. This guy was coming from the side, which means--if it were real--the splash would have sent much of the pool's water off to the right side of the pool... not just a kerplunk.

This is clever editing and what not, but its waaaaaay obviously fake.

  • It looks real!!!!

I am sick and tired of people calling "fake" or "photoshop" for everything and as for Microsoft ....they aren't sponsoring...they are advertising and more viewers = more sales...its just business.

  • Follow the link first before saying...

First. In the link theres a full video where you see the ramp fully, Second. About the acting, when you watch the full video I think You'll shut up... third. the guy in the air is moving not only his hands, but if you watch closly, he moves his legs too, the movements looks just like humans do in air when they want to balace, no dummy can do that even "myth busters dummy" show me a dummy that moves its knees like just like the guy in the video and if you show me then trow a rock at me. The time for that kind of technologe just didnt come... god damnit just watch the full video at the link. you'll think twice before writing something
    p.s. sorry for my EN

  • Sorry

    But this isn't real.

That amount of speed may be possible with that hill, but not from that height. Skiiers get a lot more speed from a greater height to accomplish similar things. I also doubt that the person could get that much speed. Wetsuits are necessarily slippery, and I doubt that that is your standard slip-and-slide plastic but something more common like tarp, with is not nearly as slippery. So, unless he was riding down a literal river, that kind of speed would not be possible.

The ramp is convincingly built, good angle and everything, good size, although it is hard to tell from the angle. The guys flight should not convince anyone in either direction. That he moves his arms means nothing. A dummy would do the same in free flight; it does not look the guy is necessarily controllin his movement.

Finally, the landing. That kiddie pool is tiny and probably has two feet of water in it and is maybe ten feet wide. With the speed that he lands, he would have broken something, probably his pelvis and his leg(s). That small amount of water is simply not enough to stop in. Also, the fast he stops, th great decceleration, and the greater injury. You know what they say, its not the fall that kills you, its when you hit the ground (or water).

And yeah, most of the water would have splashed out of the pool with that speed, not just a little splash going straight upwards. Also, he would have slid into the far side of the pool sending more water out and shaking the pool considerably more than it shows.

All that being said, the quality is not great, so there is no definitive way to say either way. And the fact that they are sponsored (the vid is for a commercial), either means that they did it and were recognized, or they were payed to fake it.

  • skepticism.....

skepticism without grounding is just as foolish as gullibility. Saying something is real without working out the relatively simple mathematics that would be needed to prove it isn't and more clever than saying its obviously fake. You are just stating a 50/50 based opinion on something you know nothing about only basing it on assumption and Prejudice.

  • I would

I would do that! The guy wouldn't get seriously hurt cuz of all the protection he is wearing and crashing into water from that high wouldn't hurt too bad.

I am not sure if it is fake or not. But if it isn't, count me in on the next trial run

By argjewish 1250429624 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • Real

at first I thought this was fake, too, mainly because he didn't get seriously injured. But I watched the whole video on their website, and it convinced me. Mostly because of the technology they were using; the technology looked real, and would've been to expensive to buy just to make a fake. They also blatantly show a dummy that they probably used for tests. If they were making a fake, I doubt they'd so visibly add a dummy into their movie, it would only prompt viewers to think they might be lying.

I recalled that bullets when fired into water are slowed down at such a rapid rate that even just 1 foot into the water they break up and do no harm. This man is clearly traveling much slower than a bullet, and the water appears to be around 3 feet deep, and thus, he does not get SERIOUSLY injured, but maybe just shaken up, which he does appear to be.

FINALLY, they are sponsored by Microsoft office products. I don't think Microsoft would just sponsor any old internet hoax, even though they are thought of as the "evil empire".

  • Possible

Using the lost, ancient art of "physics," one can actually calculate trajectories based on variables such as friction and mass. That is, if they're not too lazy to pull out a calculator instead of just clicking "stumble."

  • lets refer this one to mythbusters!

Lets all submit this to mythbusters, and see if it is real.

  • You Idiots!

The same people who believe this is real are probably the same people who think God,and Jesus are real too.Geez!

  • Great!

Could this be a world record?

By Wolfheart1956 1249469990 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • Bad acting

You can tell it's fake by the horrible acting of the "friends" by the pool and the stuntman himself. Anybody who performed that stunt and wasn't horribly maimed would have been jumping out of his skin in jubilation.

  • How they did it

I am 99% sure they used two guys in wet suits with helmets. One went down the slide and stopped before going off the ramp (they probably had some sort of crash pad hidden on the part of the slide you can't see).

Then, the camera guy zoomed way back, panned to the right and the guy who was already in the pool made a big splash and got out.

Afterwards, the blurry body flying across the sky was added digitally. Cool effect, but not real.

  • But Not Probable

But I do think this video's fake because
    a) the stuntman goes offscreen during the slide, and
    b) the whole landing is weird--the pool doesn't budge (though it may be heavy), the splash is abnormal, and there's not enough room in the pool for him to have slowed down without causing serious injury

  • Giveaway

The giveaway is that he disappears before he's in front of the grass hill above the pool. That transition would have been difficult to convincingly edit.

  • really?

its really not obvious to you people that this wasn't real?

By krispykreme82603 1249705071 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • maybe

maybe the guy was hiding in the pool and they just launched a dummy?

By rcanpolat 1249677621 Reply Spam [-2] Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • How to . . .?

I'm guessing they used dummy No. 1 the same weight and size of dummy No.2 (guy in vid), see where it lands after a few slides off the ramp, place the pool in that spot, suit up, roll the cameras and cross your fingers.

You can see they chose a wind sheltered spot too. Maybe this guy is not so stupid after all but sill I wouldn't do it.

This guy has a lot of guts and maybe a death wish. And how did they figure this out?
