Not sure how that works in the US - but in the rest of the civilized world, we do pay our drinks by quantity - i.e. 2 cl or 10 cl etc (oz for the non metric guys i guess) - so why should I care whether a glass is half full or half empty - or half whatever - as long as it is filled upto the right mark ? Somebody serving you a pint of beer in a 20 pint bucket - but charges you for a pint only - who cares (besides it's not really pleasing to dring beer out of buckets - I assume).

BangkokMike is stating that in the rest of the world (or at least much of it) drinks sizes are regulated by volume. So if you pay for a vodka martini it has to have x oz. of vodka in it - thus whether the glass is half full doesn't matter - you pay for what you get. In the US it is merely the judgement of the bartender presumably. (I'm not validating this as true, merely trying to point out what the point was.)

Every average serving always has at least 2 oz. of alcohol. It shouldn't matter how much you have to drink. A 12 oz. can of beer still has 2 oz. of alcohol. A normal shot of liquor is only 2 oz. of alcohol. So if you're drinking a typical martini, it should only have two ounces of alcohol.
Your post reminds me of those people at the bar who want their drink filled with less ice...it still has the same amount of alcohol whether or not you add more stuff to it or not.

If you don't have a bottle of Jack or a pitcher of beer, you may as well be standing around with guys named Armando, and Brent having a smug chat about your polo mishaps. In that case don't bitch about the glass size because you never worked for a dime in your life anyway. Just drink the shit and drive home so you can get popped by the state trooper on the way.
The glass coca cola bottles are frauds too. When you place one in a certain glass box, you can see that it's and illusion and the thick glass bottle just reflects the coke to make it appeqar as if there was a lot.
