    They wewre just lowering it and adding custom flame exhausts. The guy was running cus they just inveiled it to him. Pity about the music over the top or you would have heard Xzibit's stupid laugh.

    seems to me the bridge tender may have had something on his mind, or someone in his lap and hit the lever to drop the bridge. bridge tenders fault, not the ships captain.

    Wonderful to see a member of crew closing doors to contain fire. A credit to the ship. Sad that a bridge operator was allowed to be on duty in his condition,reflects on todays poor management.

  • Tired operator...

    This insident took place in August 2001. The bridge operator was tired and misjudged the size of the ship so after the stern had passed under the bridge he began lowering it. As you can see on the video, the bridge gets it's roof torn off, but remarkebly - the wheelsman is still in it! He refused to leave in case he could stop it and/or stear clear of trouble.

    There were no injuries, but the ship is still docked with it's future undecided. And yes, it actually IS repairable. This is a 700 feet long wessel (tanker) and at the time it was carrying 26.000 tons of wheat.

    The bridge was closed only a day or two and is still in use but this bridge operator is, well, doing something else now. :-)

    • I dont think its the captains fault.

      The bridge was coming down as the ship was passing. The captain musta had the all clear, and as he moved forward someone let the bridge down.
