I read about this in the paper. After back-releasing from the winch the glider stalled and went into a spin. Although both pilots were not wearing parachutes P1 attempted to open the canopy and exit teh glider during the spin and was half out of the glider when it hit the ground. P1 died instantly and P2 was rushed to hospital unconscious but died later due to severe internal injuries. So sad.

One of the instructors is now working as a mini cab driver now and the other commited suicide shortly afterwards.

Many complaints were made about this advert which was filmed at the same gliding club only a few months afterwards but the ASA eventulally decided to allow it to continue to be broadcast.

CAA, FAI and BGA are curently reviewing instructor safety protocol especially with regard to modifying instructor flying jackets to clearly identify the instructor both front the front as well as behind.
