Amanda Knox - The Interrogation in Her Own Words [13+]

Amanda Knox describes the 14 hour interrogation which led her to create a 'vision' that implicated Patrick Lumumba in the murder of Meredith Kercher. Authorities declared this her "confession", arrested her, her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito and Mr. Lumumba then announced that Amanda had led a sex orgy gone wrong that resulted in the death of Ms. Kercher; "case closed". Once Amanda learned that Mr. Lumumba had been arrested on the basis of her "confession" she tried desperately from her jail cell to exonerate him. Investigating the charges they had themselves coerced from Amanda authorities discovered Mr. Lumamba had an airtight alibi for the night of the murder; he was released within days. It was reported that Amanda Knox was greatly relieved by this outcome. On Nov 29, shortly before it was seized and selective parts leaked to the press, she wrote in her prison diary, "I'm so sorry for all this confusion and in particular for what I did to Patrick. I'm happy that he has been set free." The Supreme Court ruled this "confession" was obtained illegally and is inadmissible as evidence in court and it is noted here that Patrick himself claimed he was "beaten by police" and called "a dirty black" during his own interrogation; Amanda's protests that her statement that led to his arrest was coerced should not be difficult to comprehend. Opting to do the manly thing he filed a civil suit against her for making a false accusation. As the civil trial is being held concurrently with the criminal proceedings for murder now underway in Perugia the jury, who will render a verdict in both cases, will consider the confession for the civil trial but disallow it in the other.
This statement was made Oct 18, 2008 before Judge Paulo Micheli who dismissed as "fantasy" authorities further accusations Ms. Kerchers' death was the result of a pagan, sacrificial rite associated with the day of the dead that was characterized by Sollecitos' lawyers as "a Satanic Ritual " and opted instead for a more believable theory: Amanda morphed within six weeks from a young woman who had to work while attending prep-school, a soccer player, disciplined gymnast and award winning honors student who held 3 jobs while remaining on the Deans list at the University of Washington so she could afford to study abroad, into a sex deviate who acquired succubus powers during her month and a half stay in Perugia and seduced new boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito whom she'd met at a classical music concert eight days prior to the murder and who "looked like Harry Potter", into a plot to force Meredith Kercher to participate in a drug fueled (marijuana) extreme sex game that would end with her rape and murder with Rudy Guede, a low level drug dealer with a history of burglaries and knife fights whose DNA was found on the body and who has adjusted his story three times (after interrogation) until he placed Raffael and Amanda at the scene and claimed he tried to rescue Meredith from the crazed pair. Amanda Knox was indicted for murder, sexual violence, robbery and making a false accusation. Denying defense pleas she be remanded to the custody of Nuns who felt she presented such a threat they offered to take care of her in a Catholic Charity for young offenders he cited concerns she would kill again and represented a flight risk; in his ruling Micheli made particular mention of her supporters. Charging they tried to influence the court and insulted investigators he ordered Amanda confined in the penitentiary under maximum security conditions to await trial.
At the start of her testimony in the formal trial Judge Giancarlo Massei changed the schedule to allow Mr. Lumumba's attorney to question her first; her entire defense has been heard by the jury under the cloud of a "confession" ruled "illegally obtained" by the Supreme Court.
It is noted: lead prosecutor Guiliano Mignini is on trial for abuse of power in another case of satanic ritual murder he uncovered; he was described by prosecutors in those proceedings as being in "the thrall of a delirium". Douglas Preston, author of "The Monster of Florence", a document of that case critical of the investigation, has spoken about his own interrogation by Mignini, describing the prosecutor, who arrested and imprisoned his co-author, as perpetrating the "worst abuse of power he had ever seen in Western Europe".
Preston was forced to leave Italy under threat of arrest as an accessory to murder. When he returned to Maine and looked out over the Atlantic he began to cry.
Preston's interrogation lasted just under 2 hours.
Amanda was interrogated for 14.

This audio of Amandas' statement at the Oct 18, 2008 hearing was obtained by CBS News. Mr. Mignini dismissed this 6 minute statement by a young girl facing life in prison as "crocodile tears".
We doubt Mr. Preston agrees with that characterization.
Mignini then went on for five hours developing a scenario that led to the Satanic sex orgy he believed was at the heart of this case. "All that is needed is a video of it!" he declared.
Mr. Preston went on to add an afterward to his book: "Amanda Knox".

Amanda has been incarcerated in Capanne Maximum Security Prison since November 6, 2007.
