    I'm not sure what the law is in NH, but as a bookseller in MI, I often sent books to folks in jail (family/friends aren't allowed to directly, but bookstores were). They just went to the store, handed me the book they wanted sent to jail, wrote down the address, and later that day I would walk over to the post office and ship it out. Rates were also cheap since books are amongst the cheapest things you can send via the USPS (ask them about the discounted "media mail" rate).
