Warning, this video contains the fatal crash of Pierre Levegh, and the 80+ spectators who passed on as result of this crash. June 11, 1955, weeks after the tragic deaths of two racing legends, (Alberto Ascari, and Bill Vukovich) the racing world had another tragedy, but this one was worst than no other. In the third hour of the 1955 24 Heures du Mans, Pierre Levegh made contact with Lance Macklin, causing Levegh to hit a dirt bank. This cause the car to compleatly break apart as it flew into the air. Levegh was thrown from the car killing him instantly. Flying debris flew into the croud causing the death of over 80 people, and injuries to over 100 more. This video is a look at the tragedy, followed by a list of the victims of this horrible tragedy. The list of names came from motorsport memorial.
