  Magnets work on both steel and stainless steel. What do they teach in school now adays? Go to a Mcdonalds and slap a magnet on the side of the shake machine for proof. Perhaps you're thinking of aluminum.
  This is obviously a liquid (yes probably oil) that has a fine metallic powder in it. Not all of the liquid is reactive to the magnets, and after the magnet "S**ks up" the powder, the remaining fluid is less responsive. If it were a magnetic fluid, it should all fly to the magnet, not just chunks of it.

  That's true. I have seen the demonstrations of this oil in an auto show on Discovery Channel. Its a damper oil.
