  • OMG

First of all, if it was a ".TXT" file, the icon would look like a notepad.. not a blank program file.

If you are stupid enough to open something like that, then you should get a virus

  • Ur a noobie

Ur title says WINDOWS SECURITY FLAW. I dont like defending microsoft but this is not a security flaw in windows, i dont even think you know the meaning of the words. And then you say "this is a favourite trick of virus writers" -> yeah programmers are more amazed by hiding the extension of the file rather than the virus code and how its executed eh?

    • Not a noobie.

I said it "is a favourite trick of virus writers" simply
because I've seen it so many times. If you don't show file extensions then you don't even know how often it is done!!

  • Stupid

Ur so stupid to think this is a security FLAW! this is a feature in windows, as u explained u can show the extention, besides, look at the icon of the file, though we can change this too, but in the end, right click the file, it wont say file type: Text File, it will say EXECUTABLE FILE! again, this is no FLAW! ur just a bad user :)

No harm done, in the end, maybe some elite users will learn something.

    Thanx anyways for trying.

    • I beg to differ

I know that there are other ways to tell a files type - but hiding the extension makes it too easy to run a virus exe by mistake.

    • True

True, it does happen and users might get fooled and run an exe file when they think its a TXT, but its not even close to a security FLAW! its a feature, that's it. if u worry about it, just turn it off and you'll c the extentions as you just showed everyone in the video, never the less, thanx for informing those who didnt know, ur efforts are appreciated, but its not a security flaw :P

      Cheerz
