the nature of the comments. The losers were the people whos remarks have been filtered. They were crass, crude, and disgusting toward a person who made a very simple statement.

at first I disagreed with you about filtering - there were some comments that I though should be removed just because they are so nasty. The more I see stuff like this though, the more I wish they would leave them up so people would know what the reply is to. I have started voting some of the -2's back up just to keep them here for people to see. What is the old saying? "Let him speak so all the world will know him for a fool." I think that's how it went.

somewhere... he was saying that he uses "funny" rather than one of the negatives these days for just that reason. so i have too. still, wouldn't be nice if metcafe provided some third way to give the thumbs down to someone and 10 times over or more (same as the postive ones) and still have the stupid comment stay there?

But he's right, and so are you - I wish they would let us get people to -10 and still leave the comment up. Of course some of the comments are funny (when they're not infuriating), just no in the way the poster may have meant it.

just FYI - I found the source of that quote. It is from the original movie "The Ten Commandments" with Charlton Heston. Pharaoh (sp?) says "Let him rave on that men will know him mad." So I got the quote a bit wrong, but it's still valid. Just thought you'd like to know.

It's nice to know that in this day and age, some parents are still proud of their children's accomplishments and say so.. The moronic idiots below with their inance and boring comments are either parents with loser sons or loser sons with loser parents.. In any case, they are LOSERS.

I did the same thing here in Canada while I was obtaining my undergraduate degree in Toronto. At least I had the decency to wear briefs (not sure if that makes it better or not) as CTV was doing their report on shortage of medical doctors. But we were just having some fun and we turned out alright, I'm currently a resident in the Kingston General Hospital with Queen's University. Although I don't promote this type of behaviour, I personally simply thinks it's just a little college prank that shouldn't be taken too seriously. I mean I'm not a loser (anymore :-) ) and I'm sure that those kids will grow out of that fairly quickly. To call these pranksters losers is a little harsh in my opinion. It's nothing to really make a fuss about.

I couldn't care less about what goes on in college! (To tell you the truth, I don't even think I watched the blasted clip) It was NOT the behavior of the prankster that I was commenting on.

No need to get mad at me. I wasn't trying to offend you or piss you spark your anger. Keep that anger for the other people (I interpret it as anger because of the capital letters and exclamation marks).

But never the less you supported what AJD said which basically translates to "These guys are doing these silly things in University and will never amount to anything. I'm glad my son never participated in this society in school and stuck to his books therefore he turned out great." This is somewhat incorrect. Although there are many students that flunk out in their first years at college/uni but one should not generalize since many if not most of these fun-loving students have achieved great success in their lives. University isn't just about books, it's about joining various activities around the campus as well as having fun with friends, which is what these kids were doing. One should not generalize. I actually told the judges at my Medical School interview about the stuff I did in university including these silly pranks along with other campus activities, which got me points on how well-rounded I was. Like I said in my previous comment, I'm not promoting this behaviour by saying this but I'm just saying that there's no serious harm done from these minor pranks. Some people should just try and relax.

thanks for the levity here. i think everything you said is pretty much straight down the line and yes, no harm, no foul. as a point of confession myself (swanie, ears open now :)) ..... i too did this AND without the briefs and in states (since noone would give a damn here!) back as a lad. my 'Thor' hair was at it's longest and my buddie Genie (a girl) and i thought it should be a good idea to streak the local university. so we waited til their dinner hour, had her mom drop us off, zipped through a cafeteria with about 500 people in it spreading PANDEMONIUM everywhere and poof! gone....... our getaway was lecherous deputy sheriff who was happy to be in on the caper. videocameras were just appearing at that time and one rich local guy had one. he just "happened" ;)) to be on the campus as we dashed through and so we got to see a film of ourselves! half hour later. wow!! we really had a lark! should of seen genies boobs fly! what a hoot! and so ...... did we turn out OK? ...yabada yabada... who me?? :DDD

Good to see you had your friend's parent supporting you at the time lol. If my parents found out at the time (actually they still don't know... shhh), they'd be pretty mad. That's why my buddies and my girlfriend told decided to wear surgical masks since it would cover our identities and it would suit the CTV report on medical doctors.

i forgot we were wearing 'something'. we went down and bought Lone Ranger masks earlier in the day. so we loped through with genie in her red and i in my bkack masks. i think genie wore a wig too. (perhaps there were too many people who would have recognized those T**s !!) man, that was fun and funny as hell. the university took it >very seriously< and had all kinds of police out there next day trying to "solve" this hideous "crime"!!!! haha.

Swanie (and myself as well) were really referring to the comment (filtered for some time now) by Rick in Silverton that basically suggested that ADJ must have coddled her son and must have "wanked him off" every day. Sure, streakers are funny and the ladies reaction was even better, but it's just uncalled for to make such disgusting comments toward a mom about her son. Maybe she was a tad condesending, but she at least wasn't rude toward anyone specific.

but now that you mention it, you're correct. pRick (good pseudonym BTW - who came up with it?) does pretty much stay consistent, but this particular comment really was exceptionally bad and completely unnecessary.

Metacafe needs major reworking to fix the out of sequence comments.. It is frustrating like hell to yell at someone and that someone's comments gets filtered and we are left pissing in the wind! A newcomer comes along and wonders what the hell we are badmouthing about. I think that no matter what, the LATEST comments should go down, not up..
BTW, I was complimenting AJD's comments about her (I keep thinking this parent is a Mother, being one myself) being proud of her son. That's all folks!!!

I am a proud parent, and i do not mind letting my son know I am proud of him. and to the loser that asked if i followed him around at College, No i did not, nor do i know what he did, but i know how he turned out. And that is the thing that is important to me, the end result.
