That's not how it works. The air pressure inside the bottle builds up and tears the bottle in ONE spot, releasing all the gas at once, hence the BOOM. The "pins, screws, bolts, metal" would still be taped to the bottle, which is at this point mangled from the rapid decompression.

The mentos react with the coke far too quickly to have time to even twist on the cap. Stick with acid/Aluminium foil. Or dry ice. Whatever.

I don't know what product he used with the skull and cross bones on it but you could just replace that with "The Works" laundry detergent or drain cleaner, not sure which one of those it is but I know its "The Works" These are really fun to make. :)

Toilet bowl cleaner. The Works makes an excellent pressure bomb, because it gives you about 3 minutes to run or whatever. Drop one in a garbage can right in the middle of town, and walk (yes walk) away. Try to keep fingerprints off it, if you do something this high-profile.

The reason you don't get acid burns in your stomach from the hydrochloric acid is that you have a mucus lining on the inside of your stomach that protects it. When this lining breaks down, this causes ulcers. This is also why your throat burns when you vomit, it's that stomach acid moving up your esophagus where there is no protective lining. But the pH of hydrochloric acid does vary depending on the molarity so we're both right.

And if you don't believe me here is something rom Wikipedia: "Mixing simple aluminium foil with hydrochloric acid produces hydrogen. The hydrogen can then be stored in a balloon. Upon application of a flame to the balloon it will produce a fiery explosion."
The pressure of the Hydrogen gas produced was what caused the bottle to explode. The gas could stil be ignited afterwards producing an explosion.
Hydrogen is only toxic when Chlorine gas is liberated from it.
In future, if your such a moron that you don't know Hydrogen gas is flamable or think it's toxic as opposed to corrosive, look on Wikipedia.

if you know that it can be purchased in hardware stores, how do you NOT know that it is stronger than 6M? its about 25-27% HCl by weight per gallon at home depot and you can only get it there in a box of two gallons for under 5 bucks.
