It worked for me (with help from additional instructions in comments). It IS worth doing.
Type about:config in address bar and find “nglayout. initialpaint. delay†and set its value to “0″. This value is the amount of time (ms) the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.
The default value is 750 ms .. which means Firefox waits about 1sec before receiving the data and drawing it on screen.
nglayout. initialpaint. delay
Right click in about:config .. NEW > String .. and name it "nglayout. initialpaint. delay" {No spaces} and set it's value from 750 to 0
man make it to 750 or just put 0

The files "Max Connections Per 1_0 Server" and "Max Connections Per Server" (without the spaces) where not in the Internet Settings folder for me. In fact, there was no file starting with "Max". Anyone have any idea where these files might be for me?
Goto regedit,
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Internet Settings and make two DWORD values [Right click, New> DWORD Value]
MaxConnections Per1_0Server : Decimal value 10
MaxConnections PerServer : Decimal value 10
This will solve your problem ..

I have made the two DWORD values and named them:
Max Connections Per1_0Server
Max Connectioins PerServer
at the Value Data I entered 10 and selected Decimal and clicked OK.
When I come back to Edit DWORD value window neither the value 10 nor the Decimal selected is shown.

don't really have spaces per the video and other websites. The comments section does not allow words longer than 20 letters so the previous posters were forced to add spaces. This is a pretty ridiculous limitation of this forum.

Key: Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Internet Settings
Name: MaxConnections PerServer
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 10 (Decimal)
Name: MaxConnections Per1_0Server
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 10 (decimal)
If these keys dont already exist, create them.
make two DWORD values [Right click, New> DWORD Value]
MaxConnections Per1_0Server : Decimal value 10
MaxConnections PerServer : Decimal value 10
This will solve your problem ..

The feature also works for Windows XP Home Edition. All you have to do is add the DWORD Values.
Speed test from cnet read 91.3Kbps with out and with 264.7Kbps.

i did this once already but im now doing it again on another computer and for the windows explorer there is no "maxconnections" or anything of that sort when i am on internet settings. i was wondering what i should do???

I have windows xp and I got to the window where it has most of those files but my window didn't have maximum pages per server file. where else can I find it?

hey man i was wondering I have explorer and i did everything right but after the part when you open the " Internet Explorer" folder your suppose to click on the Max Connection icons but when I do it there is no Max Connection icon to click on am I doing something wrong?????
