Another good joke is to take a screen shot of the desktop, then set that screen shot as the desktop background and hide all the icons. The icons that appear in the screen shot/desktop wallpaper won't be clickable and will drive your friend insane. Have fun

its much more fun and easier to just
take a printscreen, the desktop at his "normal state" i mean without hiding the icons and all
then just put that as a desktop background
and THEN hide the start button row and icons
most "medium" users (or so they think they are) will think they computer crashed or something cos they can't click on anything (remember the real buttons are hidding, they are just klikking the desktop picture)
