In the first half of his presentation about the notion of playing for equality, GM Dzindzichashvili frames the general questions: does black have to try to defend in the opening, or can black play aggressively? What does it mean to play aggressively in the opening? He then explores a couple examples of gambit play by black to begin demonstrating his answers.
