Melted puddles of steel in the basements of all three buildings that fell. Five weeks later there was still red hot molten steel being pulled up by backhoes doing the cleanup. An uncontrolled fire can under the most ideal circumstances only reach 1700 degrees. Steel melts at 3000. Only explosives can cause that much heat. (Thermite, 4500 degrees)

  • "Uncontrolled fire" is a misno

    The notion of "uncontrolled fire" is that a burning jet fuel fire cannot achieve greater than 1700C. This is true. But the notion this was an "uncontrolled fire" is mistaken. When man started working with steel, all he had was *wood* and *coal*. Inside the building the core itself and the surrounding structure mimiced a bessemer furnace. This is how steel is *made*. I can melt *tungsten* with propane that way (3850 C). People don't consider things like this out of simple ignorance of what's possible.
