One of the WTC building's designers speaks of the specific ability of the WTC towers to take plane crashes. Recorded earlier in 2001, this man was lost on Sept. 11 when the towers fell.

    yea they were built to withstand a plane impact a plane of the size they were when the towers were built not planes of today

      actually, Boeing 707 is a very similar aircraft to the Boeing 767, the main difference being the 767 is heavier and the 707 is faster. Surprisingly, the 767s that hit the towers would actually do less damage than 707s. This is because the increased speed of the 707s would more than make up for the weight difference, and actually deliver about 10% more energy force upon impact than the 767s. (Kinetic energy released of 707= 4.136 billion ft lbs force; 767= 3.706 billion ft lbs force). So, since the Towers were designed to withstand the impact of a 707, they were necessarily designed to withstand the impact of a 767.
