    The Lotus won here. But you have to addmit that the bigger heavier bulkier muscle from America is pretty impressive! That lotus is about as good as it get on the track! Just one thing though the Lotus is no match for it in a drag race! Which American muscle is known for!

    Lets face it no Yank car can out pace out turn out drag an Euro or Jap car.
    I own a pretty basic euro Box that out dragged a Yank Tank Mustang from the lights in The UK and It was an American driving the mustang. (He still had his silly F**king Airforce Camoflage fatigues on(whats that all about in Suffolk ??)

    if i had the money it would be the mustang, just starting it would put a smile on my face the hunkin great v8 i would rev it like S**t doin 20 mph through town.
    but cumon that lotus is nice they are cheapish compared to the mustang and they are easy to replace body panels and so on and it would be a car u could over take that mug chav in round a roundabout and be happy leaving him standin in his suped up fiesta, and they both look sooo nice. would still rather the ford shelby mustang gt500. the old one.     race and religons just always have to come into play, but anyways, too many people think what makes a car good is how fast it goes in a 1/4 mile or something, that only proves power and acceleration, that is so little to whats important about a true racing car, as someone already said. if it was about acceleration, dont u think jeromy could have just chosen an aston martin or jaguar or something, its not hard to see the winner there. im not gonna start saying american cars S**k , its just that i guess the lack of racing experience and stuff, comare roads of italy to roads of new york? not too concerned about handling and stuff here, North america isnt part of much racing, other then NASCARs, and honestly. no skill there, just going in circles in one direction in one gear. but there are exceptions, the ford gt40, amazing car, i think the styling was copied and pasted completly from the old gt40's, just raised. but it is a good car, and compares to astons, ferraris, etc. but at least american cars are unique, most british cars nowadays are just british styling, and american money, german parts, etc. jaguar, aston, landrover, all ford. rolls royce, mini, are bmw. bently, is voltswagon, and all the others are like made in garages of 5 employess, ariel, noble. caterham...anyways, hopefully point made

      Montoya did pretty darn good if you look at other drivers on the series. We all know Shumacker is the one to beat and is dominants but after him montoya did pretty darn good. He also did well in cart! And where did you come up with him "kicking ass" because last time i checked his average finish was 20th... He will be good but hes not dominating as was my point before!

IT'S BADGE and engine , the wheels are german, and the brakes are italian, and the gearbox is british, and the body is british, and the steering rack is from an aston vanquish, and the chassie is set up by a couple of guys from lotus, ssooo... the GT is as american as the american national anthem, wich is written by a brit!

      Before any other uptight person gets all pissy about Americans and their cars, just try to remember its just a TV show. Jeremy is just having his fun. Jeremy himself owns a Ford GT.       For starters I have no idea who Jeremy is. If hes the host of the show, and I think the show is top gear, we dont get that here in America (unfortunately. It looks like a pretty insightful show.) Second I was replying to the comment that sunnee left about wishing they would have done a 1/4 mile instead of a road course. I was pointing out that a 1/4 mile is about the worst way to match up 2 cars. Of all the perfomance aspects such as acceleration, braking, handling, traction and durability, the 1/4 does a piss poor job of even testing a few of those. It looks to me like sunnee was bitter because his american pony lost to a 4-bangin bee lookin thing (I actually love the lotus though). He wishes they would have put them in a straight line and granted, in that scenario, the pony would have won. But thats all american cars are ever good at. In fact I just read a hilarious article in Car and Driver where they tested 7 bottom line econo cars, and the shoe-box-looking Honda Fit actually out performed a Z06 in their lane change test. Anyway, I think the road course was a fine idea. If you really want to match up two cars youre going to have to put them through a bunch of tests but the 1/4 deffinitely would have been a terrible way to match these two cars.

      i love the mustang and the elise but the only way to fully compare them would be through a # of different tests. its almost a given that the elise would win in a race like this one because its designed for those conditions. a mustang on the other hand would certainly win in the 1/4 mile cause its engineerd for that purpose, as were all the great muscle cars
